Well, although we might think like that cat, unfortunately we don't have the fortune to be able to do anything but deal with the day. If he is a housc cat, he can just slink around the house all day as long as he doesn't wreck the place in his master's absence. We, on the other hand, must labor on, carrying out whatever our responsibilities might be. There are consequences for how well or how poorly we do them. At work, if we don't get our work done, we might well pay the price of failure with the scourge that sometimes a boss can be. Keep it up and we might wish we had done what was necessary to hang on to that job. It's never easy to find a new one when you are not active in the work market. If you are a retired house husband like me, it's the wrath (just kidding for overstatement) of my wife when she comes home tired from work to find that I've left the place a mess. Trust me, I always try NOT to do that.
Just think about it. In the end, isn't it just as easy to get busy and get things done as it is to try and think of excuses why we can't. When we make excuses when we don't plan our days or procrastinate, there really is no excuse and if we "fudge" an excuse it is always full of pitfalls that compound the issue. A really good way to correct that is to make the commitment to do the things we are supposed to do and develop a time management plan to get it done. Even God will help us if we ask. In one of those quiet moments when we individually commune with the Lord, we need to candidly tell Him what is giving focus problems and ask Him to guide us along the way in our daily schedule. That guidance help can then be applied routinely to keep the production level where it needs to be. There is no problem too small that He won't help with, but when He leads us to the answer, we must follow His guidance. He won't help if He knows we won't follow through and yes, He knows everything there is to know about each of us, including all our traits and bad habits.
Let's make it easier on ourselves. Get it done in the needed time frame and then go home and enjoy some down time. God wants us to have relaxing down time, but that means getting the heavy lifting done first. So, get to work and watch the time fly on this Monday and it won't be long until we'll be coming upon another glorious weekend. Then you can celebrate the fruits of your labor with no worries and no fear. Be blessed and have a great Monday.
