It gets a little complicated, but here's the story. Natalia, not a representative of the Soviet Union (she worked for the Soviets in the 2002 timeframe, then went into private law practice) was turned down several years ago when trying to get a visa. She was a lawyer for a Russian businessman in an American forfeiture case and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, taking extraordinary measures, used the immigration parole rule to allow her entry for this limited purpose. But as so often happens with the American bureaucracy, the Department of Justice lost track of her and she ended up working as a lobbyist to try and end the Magnitsky Act, a law putting sanctions on Russia because of human rights violations by the Putin government. She was working for repeal on behalf of interests who wanted the Russians to reinstate authorization for Americans to adopt orphan Russian babies or at least so she claims.
So how did this end up tying her to Donald Trump, Jr? Well, an acquaintance of Trump, Jr., a man who knew him casually from his work in the music business with a few dealings with the Trump's Miss Universe pageant, told Jr. that Natalia had some information about the Clinton campaign which might be helpful. This was back in June 2016 when opposition research was in high gear by both parties. After all, we know that the Clinton campaign directly worked with the Ukraine government on just such political action, although in the case of the Ukraine it was with government personnel while Natalia was not a government employee.
When the meeting was held and Jr. found out that it was about the Magnitsky Act, something he didn't even know about, he abruptly cancelled the meeting. No information was exchanged, end of story. Yet the evidence of the Ukrainians passing information in the form of the Christopher Steele dossier to the Democrats was accomplished. And what's more, in that case it proved to be false despite duping our FBI Director, the CIA Director and even the illustrious John McCain who was the one who passed it around. But then again, maybe it wasn't duping; maybe it was just an excuse to turn the ridiculous dossier into something that the mainstream media would easily accept.
And isn't it interesting that Natalia, allowed into the country at the behest of Lynch, finds herself in the middle of the media's Trump madness. All I can say is it is one heck of a coincidence, isn't it? And if you believe it is, I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona you might enjoy. But, then again, when the Big One finally comes to LA, maybe the Grand Canyon State will be on the ocean. The way this world is turning, anything is possible.
