- From What a Friend We Have in Jesus, Words: Joseph Scriven, 1855, Music: Charles Converse, 1868
Day after day we worry about the same things over and over. What is going to happen to our country? Are the politicians selling us out? Will we be able to survive if we lose our jobs? What does the future hold?
There's no doubt that we have a lot of problems today and very few answers, but there is someone so powerful and so close that we can get help with our problems at any time, we just have to ask. Jesus Christ died for our sins and offers us the answer to all problems: Eternal Life. And since we don't know the time when we will be called home, it's important that we be ready for Him and talk with Him through prayer daily. That only requires that we accept Him as our Savior and live our lives as He would have us do.
Does that sound difficult? It need not be; all you have to do is open your heart to the Holy Spirit and ask for the love and grace of Jesus Christ to enter your heart. If you do that, you will find a joy and peace that you have never known and it is much more valuable than the finest riches and other material things. With Jesus in your heart you need never worry again because even though you might face trials and tribulations, He will see you through and be waiting for you with open arms when your days on earth are done.
You've got absolutely nothing to lose by giving it a try except a meaningless life that will end in darkness if you don't find the Way. He wants you to be with Him when the time comes; won't you accept His offer.
I hope you'll join North Florida Writer Live Sunday morning at 7:30 for a "Sunday Morning Coming Down" devotional. Short, sweet and to the point. We'll talk about the friend that Jesus is and how He can change your live with a little music thrown in, including that great Johnny Cash song which is the headliner for the Sunday devotional. Here's the link:
Hope you'll join us. God bless you all.
