He faced monumental pressure from those on both sides of the issue. Even some in the White House urged him to endorse the accord, including daughter, Ivanka, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner. And, of course, the media immediately started their usual ridiculous arguments that Trump's action will kill us all and America will be an albatross on the world stage, but Trump stood firm with those who got him where he is. Hard working, God fearing Americans who just want to work hard and have a little fun with a portion of the fruits of their labor knew that the cost of the accord was nothing more than a redistribution scheme that would serve to hold America back while countries like China and India would be able to ramp up at our expense. Trump realized that as well and stated so in his comments.
It is calculated that the agreement would have a negative three trillion dollar impact on the American economy by 2025, something a nation with a twenty trillion dollar deficit doesn't need to grow. And while the new emission standards would hamstring American energy production and continue the untimely destruction of our ability to use our own resources, China, the world's largest polluter by far, would be exempt from even creating standards until 2030.
Then there's India, a nation three times more populous than America and rapidly developing? Well, their agreement was accompanied by a grant of huge financial subsidies, largely paid by the United States through the UN Green Fund. That would be on top of the huge amounts we have poured into that program previously and Trump said it was time to stop.
The decision was one about American sovereignty, and the right of America to make her own decisions. After all, we certainly don't need the likes of Jean-Claude Juncker, the head of the European Union (a non-elected position with seemingly dictatorial powers accountable to none of the nations that are members) who has as his most prominent former position that of being ........wait for it.........the Foreign Minister of LUXEMBOURG. Give me a break! Juncker is arrogant, demanding and obviously thinks of himself as being President of Europe, and with the turmoil the Continent faces which was generated by EU action, the entire group is teetering on a self-created death.
No, America doesn't need to be lectured by the likes of Juncker or the Chinese either, for despite their strides in development, they remain a very brutal dictatorship responsible for harshly dealing with any citizen with the slightest disagreement. Trump knows it, and he has made the right decision to stand for America. Isn't it great to have a President who stands for the country that he swore to defend and protect and not apologize for her? You betcha'. My sincere kudos to President Trump for taking the right action. America is back on track to achieve her manifest destiny.
