- Matthew 2:1-2
Travel in the time of Jesus on earth was difficult. It was slow, subject to exposure to the elements and often difficult to navigate in the rough terrain that is so prevalent in the rocky land of Israel. But God had a master plan for the living story which was unfolding and He wanted both the wise and wealthy and the common man to play a part in the birth of the Christ Child. So he included wise men from the east and shepherds as witnesses to Jesus in the manger and nothing made it more possible for them to be there than His celestial navigational tool, the Christmas Star.
On this weekend's Sunday Morning Coming Down we will talk about the special star as well as both the religious and the secular aspects of Christmas. The religious is most important to maintain a "Put Jesus First" attitude in all that we do at this glorious time and always, but the secular aspect including good food, gifts, decorations and parties also allows for us to have a regular birthday party for the special child who would grow to be our Savior.
I hope you'll tune in for a message, scripture and some great music as we strive to remind all of the importance of keeping Christ in Christmas. The show is now available on demand. Here's the link:

This Sunday is Gaudette Sunday, the third Sunday of the Advent season. Gaudette is Latin for rejoice. And so, as we light the third candle of the Advent wreath (the pink one), rejoice, for not only are we celebrating His birthday, we are readying ourselves for His coming again to rule the world and finally bring peace. Hallelujah!
