Living here in Florida, it is easy to take beautiful sunlight for granted. After all, we have over three hundred days of sunshine each year in all corners of our fair state. But the last three days have been overcast and rather cold and dreary with light rain and drizzle and some fog. At some point it almost makes one feel depressed, a feeling reminiscent of days long ago when I was stationed in dreary northern climes and Europe.
Yesterday afternoon, however, after a dreary start to the day, the sun broke through, burned off the fog and clouds and turned the drab and somewhat waterlogged ground into a beautiful spectacle of color and almost instantaneous growth. The camellias started to open as well as some of the hearty roses and the grass quickly started changing from brown to green. What a glorious and quick change and with it came a much brighter outlook on things for me as well.
And my horses, dogs, cats and birds? Oh how they took to the change and were glad just to be out in nature again. An afternoon like that with plenty of sun and temperature in the low 70s just changes their outlook and attitude as well.
And as I marveled at the change and the beauty, I thought of my Lord and the passage from the Bible that was quoted at the beginning. For our Heavenly Father is unquestionably both our light and our source of life. And if we listen to Him and follow His guidance, any outlook that is less than optimum can easily be overcome through His power and grace and it, in turn, will be infectious to others around us.
And now that it is Sunday morning, the Lord's Day, take the time to visit with Him in church this morning and relight your light so that you may go forward refreshed and recharged knowing that He is with you always. Stick with Him for guidance and encouragement and you will never be lost and the riches that you will gain through Him will far outnumber any riches found in this world. Your riches will be granted in the forgiveness of your sins and the opportunity to attain the ultimate reward, Eternal Life through believing in Him.
Dear Lord, Thank you for your love and your light. And especially we thank you for the ultimate gift, the gift of eternal life offered through the death of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord on the Cross for our sins. Help us to always remember this, to live our life understanding of this and to do our all to live in your image. And be with us through any trials and tribulations that we might face and give us the strength to face them always with the Holy Spirit in our heart. We ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
Worship Him, follow Him and love Him. Your success and happiness will be guaranteed.
Have a wonderful Sunday and God bless America.
