Today, another conveniently-timed accusation has surfaced about a non-Establishment candidate, Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore, right in the final push before election. No one can say at this point where the story come from, for it's another one dug up from generations ago where it is impossible to really get to the truth. It does, however, have shades of comparison to the 2014 Mississippi Republican primary campaign.
In that one, young Chris McDaniel, a rising star and solid Conservative in the Mississippi Republican Party beat incumbent Thad Cochran in the primary, only to lose to him in the runoff. And the Establishment Republicans smeared him with lies and innuendos while convincing a number of Democrats to vote for Cochran in the runoff, spinning yarns about how McDaniel was a racist. Mississippi has an open primary law which made it easy and even decent black Americans were conned into voting for Mitch's man, a rarity in Mississippi.
Fast forward three years and we have the Moore case, another one of political dirty tricks, yet since it just broke last night, the root cause can't be determined. Yet time is of the essence and the usual RINO culprits, led by McConnell, Cornyn and the other miscreants, ran to the microphones and cameras immediately to say that Moore should pull out if he's guilty. They know full well there is no way the situation can be resolved within a month, so the assumption of guilt is established. And even John McCain could have beaten Chuckie Schumer to the mike as he became a poster boy for the Democratic idea of justice. It's not the guilt but the seriousness of the charge that matters, They've been using that one for years.
This allegation is based in Alabama on a claim of sexual inappropriateness which allegedly took place in 1979. And isn't it interesting that the Bezos, er Washington Post came out with this story while already endorsing Moore's leftist opponent. Supposedly one of their reporters went fishing with rumors and found a fifty-three year old woman to state the Judge had inappropriate contact of a sexual nature with her when she was fourteen. Three others were also stated in similar situations, all with no proof or corroboration.
In addition to the impact on the election, with Republicans now beyond the date of changing the ballot, we are faced once again with the ruination of a man's reputation without any due process. And regardless of who started the story, the Republicans in Washington are disgracing themselves on this issue while they never mention good old boy Democratic Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey who has been indicted and being tried for a number of serious felonies. One of the trial considerations is reported to be having sex with underage girls. Amazing how the Republicans always use the double standard against their own while giving Democrats a routine pass. And think about it; in today's madhouse of accusations how does an innocent man defend himself?
I hope the good people in Alabama smell the same stench from Washington that I do and use their own good judgment. Moore insists he's innocent and they have no reason at this time to withdraw their support. Let's hope they play a major role in telling Washington they've had enough and don't allow a leftist to sneak in to office on an unsubstantiated smear. After all, there is no stained dress as evidence like another big time politician was faced with and he has his followers who revere him. Just sayin', America, just sayin'. I'll stand with the Judge.
