In most churches that celebrate Advent, on Christmas Eve a white candle signifying the purity of Christ will be placed at the center of the Advent wreath and lit, signifying the vigil of Christians everywhere awaiting His arrival. And while the church service and the ceremony is in honor of His birth over two thousand years ago, we also know and celebrate the knowledge that He will come again to rule the world and to end all evil and wrongdoing forever. We also know that if we live for Him in all that we do and follow His guidance, we will upon our demise live on for eternity at his side.
And of course we love all of the presents that we give and receive from our loved ones, but the gift of Eternal Life that this little baby was born to give to us with the forfeiture of His own life a short thirty-three years later is the greatest gift of all. We need to remember this and put it at the center of our life, for never before or ever again can such a gift of grace and love ever be exceeded. Think of it, He died a most horrific death that He could have avoided so that mere sinful mortals like us might have the opportunity to live on with Him in a setting that is so wonderful and so majestic that words can't describe it.
Remember these things on this Sabbath Day as well as each and every day that you live. Understanding and accepting His love and living by it is the reason we were brought to this life in the first place. Make the most of it and experience previously unknown joy. Hallelujah!
