Oh, I know there are some "bad" dogs out there, but like bad children they are usually the fault of a "parent" who has not appropriately carried out his end of the bargain when he or she acquired the animal. And don't worry, all you horse and cat lovers out there; we'll do a show about them sometime soon in the future, but this Wednesday night on North Florida Writer Live will be devoted to the American dog, a true tradition in the American lifestyle and a wonderful gift from a gracious God.
Our family has had many dogs of many varieties. Dalmatians, a Springer spaniel, a rottweiler "mutt", Great Danes, poodle, chihuahua, and two Great Pyrenees, just to name a few, and we have been blessed with living in a rural area affording "growing room" for some of the big fella's. We'll tell a few stories tonight and I'll even take a few calls if someone has a brief snippet about why their dog is so special. If you wish to call in, dial the number listed on the program board when you dial in, then press #1 to get in the queue.
One of my stories is tinged in sadness, a story about Yeardley, the Springer, pictured here who is no longer with us but was such a joy to have as a part of our life, Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky if ever there was one. And we'll also talk about two giants, Val and Sal, and their little sidekick, Molly, who are truly the guardians of the farm, plus more. We'll focus on the good things about dogs and how they play such a positive role in our lives.
Now this show is listed in the lifestyle category on Blog Talk Radio, and I can think of nothing more appropriate to our lifestyle, or that of the millions of other Americans who are blessed with a loyal dog in their family. I hope you'll tune in at 9:30 tonight; the show will be available on demand later. Here's the link:
