Tapper, like so many in the media, just can't seem to realize that when they try and take on Conway they are dealing with someone well qualified to defend her position and again she did so deftly. In a quick, one minute put down of his nonsense, Kelly responded with fact against fiction, using the content of outgoing Director of National Intelligence James Clapper's report on the matter. She stated that no evidence was found or suggested that the Russian efforts had any impact on the results of the 2016 election and that the hacking by the Russians had been successful because of the lack of security by the Democratic Party for their computer systems as well as the lack of security support for computers of both Hillary Clinton and John Podesta, the chief of her campaign. In other words, folks, the Democrats, including their own candidate, had done it to themselves.
She also pointed out something that we should all have already known and most of us do; the Russians, Chinese, Iranians and many other nations even some of our allies routinely attempt to hack American computer systems. In fact, we do ourselves in response to their efforts as well. And since there have been major hacks by foreign operatives on many of our government's supposedly secure systems, including the Department of Defense, the Office of Personnel Management (hundreds of thousands of personnel records and personal data stolen in 2014), the CIA to a limited degree and more, what made this particular case so interesting a mere few weeks before our current and Democratic President leaves office?
Where was Obama's concern and the concern of the intelligence apparatus for those previous attempts? Was it because they were more intent on spying on our own citizens instead of our adversaries? Oh, that's right, it's because they just had to look for one more scapegoat to blame for Hillary's loss and even suspect Republicans like John McCain and Lindsey Graham, two men who will never support Trump, have been on board.
Well, guess what? It's time once and for all to face the truth. The problem for Hillary and her party was not espionage or hacking. It was her unwillingness to face the truth and the reality which was this: she was not likeable, she was not believable and she represented an agenda that most American citizens don't want. And if the Democrats continue to pursue a socialist agenda of divide and conquer they are likely to remain on the outside looking in for a long time. The election is over and at last it's time for the Democratic version of the fat lady singing to come forward with her concert. Sadly, that will never be the case.
