But wouldn't it be nice if everyone got the same excitement about their relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Just think about it, if we truly acted on our belief in Him our experience as Christians would far surpass any big event that we enjoy. And that's what He expects of us. He wants us to put our faith in and love for Him first and then live our lives accordingly.
Just think of the millions of people world wide who will watch the Super Bowl yet won't be able to find the time to go to church on the Sabbath. I think that's truly sad, particularly when we Christians know that the only way to attain Eternal Life is by putting Him first in all that we do. Jesus was sent by His Father to earth to set an example to what the only perfect man on earth was like. And then, this same man, the living Son of God suffered the most horrific of deaths on the Cross so that each of us would be forgiven for our sins and afforded the opportunity to freely make the choice of living forever in Glory or facing permanent death and darkness. To me, the choice is an obvious one.
So think about your life and where it will lead. God wants you to have some fun in life and certainly being a football fan is just fine with him, but put things in the right perspective. Take some time each day to commune with Him, study His Word and be a member of the living community of God which we call the Church. God made us as a social animal and nothing pleases Him more than to see you basking with others in the glory of His love.
Dear Lord, Thank you for another wonderful Sunday, a day when so many of us will enjoy the greatest sporting event in America. But help us to always put things in perspective and realize that while today's game will be repeated again each year, if we take the road to Eternity with you it will be forever. Open our eyes that we might see and our ears that we might hear the wonders and the glories of Life with Jesus Christ at our center. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, who died so that we might be given the opportunity to break the chains of sin forever and live with you, Amen.
No matter who you favor, enjoy the game. Let's hope it's a classic. God bless.
