Sunshine is coming, glorious sunshine and warmth after an unusual winter in Florida. It wasn't exceptionally cold, but it has been unusually wet and the animals, and we humans, are looking forward to a beautiful day in the Sunshine State after a string of dreary, gray days with a lot of rain, often very heavy.
As I look about at the glory of God's world, I begin to see the blue sky become more visible as the sun begins its slow trek over the horizon and the treeline. And I also begin to feel the warmth from the light, the glorious warmth of sunshine after the damp, chilly days just completed.
I think to myself about how this light and this warmth must be an indication of what Heaven is like for those of us who commit to our Lord and Savior and His promise to us of Everlasting Life. And I vow to myself to stay the course and to be true despite all of the temptations of this world and the ease today with which mankind can slip into evil, convincing himself that the now is more important than the later.
Being it is a glorious Sunday morning, I tend to my early morning chores before I get ready for church. Oh, there are days that it would be easy to sleep in and take care of the horses later, but if I did that I would miss my weekly communion with others and with my God and Savior and I know I would be sorry later. Attention to my worship, just like attention to prayer and the Scripture, is something that we must do routinely if we really want to keep the Spirit alive and strong within our hearts. It requires dedication, practice, and constant attention in a world so full of what we often think is good but we later find out is so evil for us. And I thank God for making this challenge one of free will, for I know that if it was automatic and didn't require work and strength from me, it wouldn't be nearly as appreciated. Things easily attained never are.
Dear Lord, We thank you for the beauty of a sunny morning where the warmth and the light give us a clue to the warmth and light that will be with us forever in your Kingdom. And we also thank you for the rain that we have received that is so important to life and growth. Help us to always look about us and see the glories and the wonders of the Creation that you made for us and to appreciate the love and care with which you have given us these blessings. And help us to live our lives for you in accordance with your guidance, always knowing that you know what is the straight and narrow path that we must follow. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Savior, who died on the Cross so that we might live forever, Amen.
Love Him, Worship Him and Believe in Him always. And have a wonderful Sunday knowing that He will return to reign over earth. And may God add his blessings to the United States of America.
