Dear Lord Above,
As we start the wonderful Advent season leading up to Christmas, in my prayer today I ask for nothing for myself and I praise you as my King and my Savior. I do, however, want to offer to you this day a very big wish for my friends and family. It's not complicated, but very basic, and it is this. I wish that all of my family and friends, and all mankind, truly realize the real reason for this season as we prepare to celebrate it. Oh, the presents, the parties and celebrations, the good food and cheer, the decorations and yes, even Santa Claus, are grand additions to the occasion. But I want everyone to come to the realization that they are actually meaningless, for the real reason for the season is the birth of your Son on earth and what his life and death means to us.
Lord, none of us are anything without you. We can amass riches, be famous and have all the gold and silver in the world but it is nothing compared to the love you have for us and your hope that we will make the decision to believe in you by faith, including your Son and the Holy Spirit and put ourselves in your hands to direct the way we live our human life. I, for one, have made that decision though as a human I will always be a mortal sinner as long as I walk the earth, but I ask that you guide all who I know and don't know to come to the realization at this time of year that they must open their hearts and let the Holy Spirit guide them to Jesus. Only through Jesus can they commune with you. And I pray that you keep them strong and healthy as they gain the wisdom of who you are and what you mean to us.
Lord, help each of them to understand that with you they are everything, while without you they are nothing. I personally came to that revelation after many years of struggle within and the joy, the peace, the love and the hope which it provides is astounding. And the knowledge that by doing so means a life everlasting under your guidance and care adds a superlative touch that can't be beaten. Please, Lord, bring to each of my family and friends and others who, if they haven't already experienced the joy associated with such an important addition to their life, join the rest of us this year. That is my Advent prayer to you this day and I ask it in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Savior and Mediator with you on our behalf, Amen.
Have a most blessed and wonderful Advent Season and Christmas. Accept His offer and gift of forgiveness and resultant Salvation. You will be eternally blessed. God bless you all.
