Why did Jesus, who after hearing of Lazarus' death delayed his journey for two days time? And since he knew Lazarus was buried only two miles from Jerusalem where the High Priest Caiaphas and the other Temple leaders were looking for him, was he fearful? And what is the real meaning of this miracle in the story that the Bible presents?
Remember, friends, God is all knowing and there was a distinct method in why the story played out and what it says to us. And since Jesus Christ at the time was both a living, breathing man and also part of God Himself, He knew exactly what was going to happen and why.
The story takes place near the end of Jesus' three year traveling ministry and at a time when His fame had grown and with it the enmity of the leaders who saw Him as a threat to their power and prestige. So the story of Jesus life on earth was heading to its horrific, yet at the same time glorious, finale and when the final curtain fell all of mankind was forgiven for its sins: past, present and future. And all it takes is an open heart and belief that He is truly our Savior to accept that wonderful gift.
