Today we are being told by some that our nation is evil and is responsible for all of the ills that the world faces. Even some of our schools teach us that as well as most of our universities which have turned from real education to ideology and dogma, are now poisoning young minds from truth and replacing it with nonsense. Some of us have even been shocked when our children tell us that everything we have taught them is wrong and that they now see the light. It is a living example of how the words of Jesus from so many years gone by ring true when he said, "What is right will be wrong and what is wrong will be right." Face it or not but for many of us, it is now here.
Of course, education is not the only place that has led to this, but with its influence on our children it was a prime action center, and such other important stalwarts to maintaining an effective and productive society have also been under heavy attack. They include our media, our social standards and even our churches. With our media now in the hands of a clear monopoly of thought (93%) of an extreme leftist variety, it is hard to find good and decent well thought out coverage of the news and it has thus degraded into nonsense of the CNN, New York Times and Washington Post variety. And then, of course, not even our churches have been spared as so many mainline Protestant churches and even Catholic congregations have substituted Social Justice for the power of God's word. It is sad that today we either don't hear the word of God out of the pulpit, or it is so wrongly evaluated as to destroy the meaning which is clear within it. Sadly, they don't understand that we can't have real social justice without Jesus and yet He is now infrequently mentioned in such bodies. And all of these thing roll over into our concept of social morality, where today "if it feels good, do it" seems to be the prevailing attitude, replacing the long held understanding that the Ten Commandments provided with great rules to live by, precluding unneeded strife caused by greed and wanting it all no matter where it comes from.
So, what does the Good Lord say about this and what does he expect us to do? Well, He has all the answers, but He is not going to intervene in American politics for He knows we have the power to do that ourselves. We just have to have the willpower to think things through and when we do so with prayer while in tune with His Spirit, discernment arrives and we can see very clearly. Now, I don't want to make a total political statement concerning what we face, but I will leave you with this. If you review your values as both a Christian and an American, take those values, review them against the positions being presented by each of the candidates as well as thoroughly reviewing their past stands. Then apply God's discernment to those things and each of us will know what to do. We will then be able to make a good decision and be comfortable in the choice made. And that is so important this year, for I don't believe we have ever had an election with such dire consequences depending on what we do. The choice is really about the worth of individual freedom and what that means or allowing total authoritarian control over each of us with the dire consequences that can bring when carried out by a godless state. Choose well, my friends, and be clear, for in three short weeks the matter will all be up to us. And once it's done, there will be no turning back.
