The answer is a simple one: Prayer. I recommend that we start and end every day of the week with prayer. It doesn't require any particular place or even format, but it should be a time when we commune individually, and sometimes with others when we can, with God. Prayer gives us the opportunity to just talk with Him and thank Him for the many gifts He has given us. And it also allows us to ask for His help with things that are troubling us, for with Him we can conquer all things and all problems. The answers don't always come in what we hope for, but they do come to provide things that God wants for us and to tell us what we need to do.
Here's my simple prayer for the morning, but it is just an example. Each of us needs to say whatever comes from our heart and it can be changed and modified as often as we want. The whole point is just to make it a habit and pray regularly. Even though He knows everything about us, He likes to hear it coming from us. After all, He is our Heavenly Father.
Dear Lord, Thank you for the many gifts that you provide for us and all of the love that you show. Help us to always appreciate what you do for us and to respond with respect, love, and devotion to you and what you want us to do and be. Instill your wisdom in us so that we might help others receive the Holy Spirit by opening their hearts to you through the example we show in our own daily lives. We know that life can be difficult and we would ask that you be with us and comfort us in those and all times, helping us to solve our problems, both big and small, in a way that would make you proud. And thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who died that we might live forever. Help us to use our free will to live for Him so that we may successfully receive that wonderful gift of eternity when this life is done. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
And now off to another week in a sometimes not so kind world. Let's each do our part to make it better. Be strong, yet kind, and smile knowing that He "has our back". And God bless America.
