At times like that, I need some peace and quiet, a serene place where I can ponder my feelings and thoughts and spend some time both alone with my God to sort things out. Late yesterday afternoon was one of those times and since I am fortunate to have plenty of room where I can get peace and quiet, I decided to take a stroll out in my pasture and let nature work its positive impact on me.
As I passed through the gate and into the pasture, I watched small fluffy clouds pass by in the breeze, casting a variety of interesting shadows on the ground. Even though it was hot, the feel of change was in the air and I knew it would cool nicely once the sun went behind the trees. The grass was green and thick, the result of a very wet summer and the ground, while still soft, was finally beginning to dry out after a several day break in the rainy weather we've had. The horses were grazing, further out there were lots of turkeys, young and old, and a family of deer. Each was aware of the other but they were peacefully coexisting in the open spaces.
Seeing these wonderful sights, things I never get tired of, had the desired effect. It put me at peace, gave me serenity, and let me put my thoughts together so that I could commune with my God. Nothing does this better for me than a visit to the "Great Outdoors". Oh, I attend church and certainly love the fellowship and the reverent setting, but viewing the majesty of the world he has created really does the trick.
Every one of us has that special place where we feel closest to God. If not, look around you until you find it. And when you do, use it regularly to talk with Him. He wants to hear your voice and your concerns and He will lead you in figuring out your way forward. I know it works for me.
Dear Lord, Thank you for affording us so many special places on earth where we can feel near to Thee and talk with Thee. Our communication is important and help us to visit with Thee often. We don't need to wait for Sunday, we can do it anywhere and at any time and we know that when we do we feel better and grow stronger.
The land we love is in great turmoil these days, Father. Help us to search for the right answers, not the temporary gimmicks, and lead us in this effort. Help us to bring Jesus to the hearts of others and Thy Spirit to their souls so that our land might once again be looked on with great favor from Thee. I fear that by our recent actions and attitude we have offended Thee, and make us all see that without Thee we are truly nothing.
Strengthen us through faith to have the patience, fortitude and courage to face the reality of this world and work diligently to make it a place that is worthy of the next coming of Jesus. His death for our sins has given us the most amazing gift, the opportunity to have everlasting life with Thee, and help us to appreciate it and be truly saved. In His name we pray, Amen
Have a great day everyone and do everything that you do in His behalf. He is the key to life and salvation.
