In the unlikely event that you can't imagine who I might be talking about I'll limit my mention to two: Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Let's compare the two situations so that my point might be made clear.
Chris Christie, being the first Republican Governor of blue New Jersey in many years is a constant target for Democrats. Never in their wildest dreams did they ever picture Christie being elected and then reelected with a sizable majority in New Jersey, one of the most sure bet governorships for Democrats in America. And now it has come out that he might have known something about the effort to shut down traffic on the George Washington Bridge, a key artery between northern Jersey and New York City, because of some type of riff with the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee.
We know that his campaign aides were involved but we don't know if Christie was, but this to me is not a major scandal. Oh, it was wrong and shouldn't have happened, but remember, we're talking about the rough and tumble politics of New Jersey where Christie's actions seem rather insignificant, particularly by comparison to the Washington scene. But never let the media miss the opportunity to try and destroy a Republican, and particularly any Republican who could be a thorn in the side of Hillary's ambition. And, of course, Barack Obama has never seen a Republican that he doesn't want to bash and blame for all of his own problems.
And now Eric Holder and his minions in Justice are opening an investigation of Christie and how he spent Hurricane Sandy relief funds yet the Democratic Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, faces no such fate even though many on the New York shore have yet to receive any relief.
Now compare the Christie situation with Benghazi, where both the President and his Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton, refused to do what was right for Americans under siege, leaving them alone in the dark in a foreign country where they were brutally murdered while standby forces were never given the order to move. And then they tried to cover it up with a video which practically no one had seen and which had nothing to do with the cause, a political cover-up if ever there was one. And they still refuse to answer any questions and the main stream media, despite its assaults on Christie, keeps mum about the Administration.
There are many other true scandals in this administration from the IRS to the NSA to Fast and Furious and even the roll-out of, and lies about, Obamacare. Yet the news media digs and digs on Christie, a Governor, while the actions of the White House continue to drive America's economy and morale into the toilet with their selection of who in America will be a winner or a loser. It's disgraceful.
So as for Chris Christie, he certainly deserves fair treatment in his current struggles and I hope some Republicans, particularly the governors, will speak a kind word on his behalf. To date I've only heard Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Paul LePage of Maine do so. The remaining silence of fair weather friends is sickening. And whatever you think of this man, remember, he doesn't have blood on his hands. That's a lot more than I can say about the President and his former Secretary of State.
I'll close on this statement: any Republican contemplating a run for President in 2016 had better get their full body armor on. If Hillary Clinton decides to run, it will get extremely ugly and fast and the rough and tumble will be non-stop. You see, Democrats are never held accountable for their sins by the media, only Republicans, and the Clintonites will throw every dirty trick in the book at Christie or whoever the nominee will be.
And I think deep in my heart that having people with this lack of fair play and decency not being held accountable for their sins is why America is in such trouble today. Let's not continue our fall by continuing to elect such people. Only truth and honesty can turn things around because our God above is watching and he knows. I guess we have to keep our faith, maintain our own principles but during the election process grab a big bag of popcorn for the show will go on. What a sad time it is for America.
