Pretty Annie reciprocated the feelings that were clearly evident by the interest the young man showed in her and it wasn’t long before she invited Josh to meet her grandmother, who was her primary family ever since her parents were killed when she was a young girl in a freak accident on a buggy ride. Her grandmother found Josh both charming and worthy of her granddaughter with his hard work ethic, polite disposition, honesty and friendly demeanor and it wasn’t long before wedding bells were ringing.
Annie became his confidante, his best friend, the mother of his child, his lover and his soulmate. Throughout their life she would serve as his sounding board, principal advisor and the one who could politely scold him when he made a mistake. She also played a major role in bringing him back to his faith, which had been lying dormant since the dark days of war. Annie Pickett Eldridge would help him weather the storms of life while enjoying the good times together and she would be the keel of his ship of life for as long as he walked the shores of coastal Carolina. They were perfect together and everyone around them knew it.
Here’s hoping this gives you just a peek at how important this young lady is to our principal character. And there’s oh, so much more, but you must read the book to learn the rest of the story.
