I do make one exception, however, and that's when something is going on that is out of character for America and threatens to destroy her. Here I am talking about such things as Fast and Furious, the Benghazi situation, IRS abuses; anything which shows a tendency toward despotism and tyranny.
Through all of these things, President Bush has been silent. He has refused to stand up for liberty and speak out against those actions which are clearly against the law and the American system of government. At the same time he has decided to speak out on immigration reform, roundly supporting the current bill and refusing to acknowledge all of the possible abuses it will certainly bring if enacted as the Senate proposes. He has taken the same position as his brother, Jeb, and is willing to throw the average American under the bus and instead give favored status to those who have arrived on our shores illegally.
I have great problems with this and I am saddened deeply. When current and former American leaders support a cause which will harm this land, I try to find a good reason for it but there just isn't one. And as sure as the sun rises every morning, if this travesty becomes law this will no longer be the country that we love.
President Bush, I voted for you twice and I truly thank you for the work you did to keep America safe. But refusing to recognize American sovereignty on our borders and allowing the lawless to bypass already existing laws is not the answer, and I know in my heart that you know this as well. Stop the madness and worry about our citizens for a change. Many are out of work through no fault of their own and this is not the time, or the way, to flood our nation with more cheap labor. We are sickened by what is happening and will do anything we can to stop this evil bill.
Apply the Reagan rule: trust but verify. Since you can't verify anything this Administration says, don't trust it. It's that simple. Honor American and keep her safe and secure and financially sound, always.
