I remember all of the anticipation and excitement, but I am saddened these days because it has lost much of its religious significance in recent years with all the malarkey about separation of church and state and legal challenges and now even atheists calling themselves a religion. I have no idea how you celebrate a religion based upon emptiness.
We Americans have largely allowed Christmas, that magical time when we used to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, to become a largely secular occasion where all of the emphasis is on material "stuff", things which have relatively no meaning over time. This was accomplished without any real outrage from us. Using liberal legal interpretations to hamstring Christians selectively, an education establishment which has lost sight of history and worst of all, political correctness, we have forfeited our rights.
Because of this unrelenting anti-Christian campaign, many Americans have an emptiness in their souls and they don't even recognize the reason. Why? Because so many of our more recent generations have lost the discipline and commitment to the teaching of our Christian heritage and the Holy Bible. The Christian guide and counselor sent by Jesus after His Ascension, The Holy Spirit, has not been welcomed into the heart of so many of our citizens. How sad that a country founded under God has lost its way.
One thing that gives me hope is watching younger people with talent and energy starting to rise up in support of a return to our Christian heritage. These can be in any occupation and with varying skills, but none is more appealing than an artist who can deliver a strong message by song. One such gifted artist is a young woman named Becky Kelley, who recorded a video performance of a wonderful new Christmas song a few years ago, Where's the Line to See Jesus. I won't describe its message to you as you can listen for yourself, but it does present clearly the dilemma that we find ourselves in at a time of year which is supposed to be His celebration, not a secular holiday.
Here's the link to the song: http://www.share-christmas.com/music/linetoseejesus.htm
The song lasts about three minute and is very beautiful and very powerful. I hope each of you will watch and listen to it, pay close attention to the words and, if you agree with me that it is accurate, work this Christmas season to bring it back to Christ as the center of attention. After all, He died so that we might have the opportunity to gain Eternal Life in His House. To accomplish this, we must worship and follow Him and carry His message to others so that they might gain everlasting life as well. It's what he expects and it's what we must do and in so doing we will be truly blessed and Christmas will once again be a joyous spiritual experience. Thanks be to God.
Have a wonderful day and don't forget that whenever you meet someone today, mention your love of Christ. Trust me, you do have the power to spread the Holy Spirit. After all, it's what we were made for, to glorify Him.
