America is indeed running on a nearly empty tank. We are beginning to sputter just like an auto running out of gas and, if we don't get a fill up, we will soon find ourselves stopped dead in our tracks on a lonely road far from any help. America was based on God, hard work, initiative, and belief that nothing could stop us. And then a great group of citizens just went out and did it.
Today, many Americans seek handouts and other things labeled as being "free", like the myth of Obamacare, and we are all beginning to see that nothing is free. Unfortunately for the many who believe in hard work and continue to do so, their resources are being used to make these things "free" for those who haven't prepared for life and are suffering because of their own actions. Those who work hard are "rewarded" by being penalized for their success, an action which if left unchecked will result in these same industrious folks either finding another place to call home or limiting their work ethic and production level. It has been seen before in such supposed "paradises on earth" as the old Soviet Union, Cuba and Venezuela and it will be seen here if our direction doesn't change. As long as we elect politicians who feed on fear and divide Americans against each other we will continue to flail away into oblivion. And these very politicians, men and women of both parties, people who have put their own power and lifestyle ahead of the very people they were selected to represent, will continue to be elected.
The picture shown on today's blog entry is a shuttered plant in Detroit, a plant that was thriving and productive which has now been reduced to being an unsightly and unsafe landmark in a city full of such buildings. Detroit, once the motor capital of the world, has been reduced to a city less than half its size in the glory years with much of its area a wasteland of crime, gang warfare, and nothingness. I show it because this once great city is a prime example of what happens when a people turn their hopes and dreams over to big government with corruption, cronyism and wealth destruction. Is this what we want to see over the entire country?
We need to wake up America. We need to wake up and take a good critical look at our nation and its direction and decide for ourselves what got us here. Regardless of what you might think the answer is, if you are honest you will have to realize that it isn't what we've been doing. It hasn't and won't work ever. It's been tried many times in many places and has failed over and over again. It is socialism, a disease which takes many different names and has many different "hope and change" slogans and buzz words but all end up in the same place: disaster.
2014 can be a banner year for real hope and real change. I urge all of us to study the views and actions of political candidates and the political issues at play. Give them the "smell test"; if things don't "smell" right, find someone else. Search for and identify those who are God-fearing, support freedom, individual achievement and our constitutional foundation, and pray regularly to God for guidance in this endeavor. Then vote only for candidates who support these beliefs. This approach made America great once and it can happen again. Just like Christians need to be reborn in Christ, America can be reborn in the American Spirit and it's our only hope for a prosperous future for all.
God bless you all and have a wonderful week. Let's work for "Real Hope and Change" this time.
