I first became aware of this case while reading Allen West's blog. I have great respect for Colonel West, having himself been nearly railroaded to prison for the act of defending his own men. Colonel West was indeed fortunate to have the support needed to overcome the charges and I would hope that this young man, Lieutenant Lorance, is given the same chance for a review. It appears that the court martial board was not given a large amount of evidence which they should have seen. While I am not a lawyer, I know how a court martial board can be put under great pressure, particularly if it is coming from Washington.
So when you have a chance, take a look at the information. Friends of the Lieutenant have set up a website which has much information (www.FreeClintLorance.com). On the site you can learn about this young man and the details of his case and much, much more. Now I know that there are two sides to every story but I would hope others would look at this site and if they find it compelling use it as a jumping off point for further research. After all, we expect young men to make split second decisions under danger and stress and then the Monday morning DC quarterbacks come in looking for an easy out with a political purpose.
If as I suspect something is amiss, then Lieutenant Lorance's case should be reopened by the Army for further review. And I pray that God will shine His light on all those involved in this matter and open them to making sure that the truth wins out. A young man with a good record shouldn't be railroaded into twenty years at Leavenworth if things were handled in an improper and political way and the truth wasn't clearly allowed to be seen..
May God be with this young man and His family at this special time. Lord,Keep him safe and look over him. And God bless all of you as well.
