Political Wars: Lose the Skirmish but Battle On

All eyes have been on the U.S. Capitol and the political war being waged between the Republicans (or at least some of them) and the Democrats.  I think John Boehner has surprised us by some of the strength he has shown of late but, alas, I fear that his determination will crumble quickly the closer we get to the debt ceiling deadline.  He is truly fearful of the possibility of default, although the government has plenty of money to avoid this since it's really a question of setting spending priorities.

The problem is that the Democrats will never give up their spending binge unless they no longer have the numbers to support it.  And there are a significant number of so-called "moderates" in the House Republican caucus who will undermine Boehner, so Boehner will allow the full House to relent.  There are enough soft Republicans to join with the Dems to end the stalemate.  So that means that sometime between now and the estimated debt ceiling deadline of October 17th the current action will end.

Does this mean we are losing the war?  Is everything going to back to "as usual" with massive debt increases which will ultimately lead to a Cloward and Pivin economic destruction of America as I think it is clear Obama wants?  Not so fast, for there are signs of encouragement from the actions taken by Conservatives to keep the fight going this long.

Just like Rand Paul got America focused on security abuses,  Ted Cruz's floor action put on public display the outlandish actions that Democrats will take to get their way on Obamacare.  And despite their constant bashing of him, Senator Cruz still eloquently presents his views and is gaining widespread support from Americans in flyover country, you know, the real people who go to work everyday and pay their taxes.  It is only the left wing political class and their media flunkies that constantly play the game of seeing no evil in what is being done to America.  So I think Cruz's outspokenness and strength based on logic and fact will continue to grow and swell, kind of like a tidal wave as it gets into shallow water near the shoreline.

Add to this the outrageous things in the name of the government shutdown that Obama has been doing and I think many are really beginning to understand where the problem lies.  It's not in the Republicans per se, but in the Democrats bunker mentality which says they don't have to negotiate although that's clearly what the Constitution calls for.

Just think of the things that Obama has done that logical people know is just pure meanness. Closing the World War II memorial so that elderly veteran heroes can't visit it in their final years of life.  Closing the Normandy Cemetery in France despite the many Americans who had it scheduled for their European vacations.  Shutting down the Pisgah Inn in North Carolina, a privately run and funded property on the Blue Ridge Parkway which takes no federal funds even though located on federal land.  Threatening social security payments to scare seniors, an old Democratic trick.  Closing needed cancer treatments for children at NIH.  Even blocking Armed Forces TV this weekend from broadcasting football games for our overseas soldiers and closing base commissaries, their on site grocery stores, while leaving golf courses open.  Of special note in this latter regard are the facilities at Andrews AFB.  Do you think the golf course is left open because His Highness likes to pay golf there?  Of course, as usual it's all about him. Who care about the little people and those in uniform?   This is just a few of items and remember, the White House directly determined what would be closed.

Also of note is the high cost of closing the parks, many of which cost little to operate, the installation of huge barriers and blockades cost a lot for manpower and material.  Folks, you can't make this callous disregard for American citizens up.  Vice President Biden even thanked a Park Service employee for refusing entry to the World War II memorial of an elderly veteran.  How disgusting and vile can he  be?

I mention these things because in past shutdowns, and despite the media's lack of knowledge of history there have been seventeen prior ones, actions of this type have never been taken.  But when the Washington Times reported that a park ranger explained why this action happened the evidence was put on the table for all to see. The ranger, employed by the National Park Service, said: "We've been directed to make things as difficult for people as we can and I think it is disgusting", or words to that effect.  Instead of trying to minimize problems, Obama maximizes them, because in his eyes his wishes are the only things that matter.

Well, folk, while we are not going to be able to shut off Obamacare through this current standoff, we have succeeded in bringing it to the forefront of all of Washington once again, and as people see the cost, the lack of quality service, the danger of identity thrift and all the other serious problems they face, a groundswell will rise.  Americans don't take too kindly to poor treatment and this situation is one of the most outlandish ever.  So stay strong, stay informed, and get involved.

And one other thing, stop electing RINOs and Democrats who tell you what they want you to hear and then do what they are told by their puppet masters.  Elect strong people with backbone and courage, not wishy-washy wimps who, once in DC, sell you out over and over again.  Demand answers, research their backgrounds, and find out what they really stand for before you support  them.  And then hold them fully accountable for their actions.  And stop paying attention to the mainstream media which is in the tank for Obama.  There are plenty of alternative sources with the internet and especially talk radio.  Wake up and wise up.

And in closing remember this:  If we had done our homework in both 2008 and 2012 we wouldn't now be saddled with the first President who clearly doesn't care what America wants or thinks.  Thankfully, despite what he would like, he is not the King and his hubris will catch up with him.  Let's help it along.

Have a wonderful Saturday and God bless America.
