Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for bringing us the glorious rain. It cleanses the air we breathe and makes it smell sweet and it allows the crops to grow and the animals to live. Since water is so often taken for granted, help us to always appreciate its life-giving quality without which we cannot survive. And Father, keep us always mindful that it is one of the multiple gifts that you continually give to us, gifts we sinners are not truly worthy of. Give us the strength to fight temptation and evil and to stay on the path to righteousness.
And while the storms that bring rain are usually beneficial, help us to also keep in our thoughts and prayers the people of Oklahoma and surrounding states who are suffering from a different series of storms, ones that brought devastating tornadoes. Be with them and keep them safe, and take care of those souls who departed suddenly during those storms, particularly the young children.
Father, we don't always understand why you bring both the good and the bad to we mortals, but help us recognize that everything you do has a reason and is in accordance with your master plan, and help us to use both the good and bad to understand Thy purpose for us. Sometimes in adversity, the best of our humanity is brought forward. Help us to seek out love and kindness in our hearts always. In His name we offer this prayer, Amen.
FOR THE GLORIOUS RAIN
Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. James 5:18 (ESV)
FOR THE PEOPLE OF OKLAHOMA AND SURROUNDING AREAS
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him. Nahum 1:7 (ESV)
God bless you all. Have a glorious day, but always remember Him. He is our salvation.
