Now we've all noticed his reluctance to take a strong stand in the region, or at least from the perspective of traditional American policy. He basically has shown himself to support Muslim interests over those of Israel and he also seems very reluctant to even speak of the atrocities against Christians and other religious minorities in the new Iraq war zone.
Obama mentions the Yazidis and he mentions Muslims being killed, but I have only heard him use the term Christian on one or two occasions. Furthermore, he has constantly pressured the Israelis to commit to cease fires knowing full well that any temporary lull in the fighting will be broken on a whim by Hamas in Gaza since they have refused to even acknowledge the existence and right to life of the Jewish state.
But in recent weeks an even better indicator has come out which is subtle but clear. The Islamic extremists who now have control over significant portions or Syria and Iraq were originally identified as the Islamic State (IS) or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) but now the term the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has come into vogue. This is not by mistake and this latest term is the one that both Obama and most of the main stream media prefer to use.
What does it mean? Well, the meaning of The Levant is the important part, for it refers to those areas from Southern Turkey down to Egypt in the Sinai, including Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinian Territory and ISRAEL. It sees this entire land area as being a Muslim land. In other words, it refuses to acknowledge the right of existence of Israel and, again, it is the term that our President uses exclusively when talking about the movement.
Friends, I think it is becoming increasingly clear that Obama sees no future for the State of Israel and ultimately wants it turned into a Muslim land. This would explain his constant pressure on Israel, his desire for Israel to take unconditional cease fire action despite their continued threat from Hamas and even his argument that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel and that she has no right to further develop parts of her own land. Can you imagine a foreign power telling America that she had no right to construct anything new in the New York suburbs?
Also remember that early on in his meteoric rise to power, Obama clearly stated that if he had to choose between Islam and other things in the crunch, he would opt for Islam. Put all of these little hints together and I think the conclusion is clear.
Every American needs to think about this and determine what he or she thinks is true but, remember,if you are a Christian the future of our nation and our life both in this world and the hereafter is tied to Israel. Israel does indeed constitute God's promised land, and we Gentiles only received the promise of salvation granted mercifully to us through the death of our Savior on the Cross. If we turn our back on Israel, we turn our back on God and He will not be pleased. There is plenty of prophecy throughout the Bible to support this view for believers.
We need to work hard to right the direction of our nation and returning God and our support for Israel is one major step we need to take. Pray on it, read about the issue in the Bible and many supporting scholarly sources and commit to doing what you can to change our course. I think the next major national election will be the first secular step to doing so and then keep on asking God for future guidance.
God bless America and Israel. May both nations live freely as friends from the same moral and spiritual foundation for many generations to come.
