Vladimir Putin just laughs and gets on his horse and goes riding shirtless. He knows he is dealing with someone who has no idea what he is doing and he will ride this situation just as far as he can, stopping before he goes to far by today's weak world standards. Putin loves his celebrity and he won't do something that will adversely impact that.
Some seem to be concerned that this is just the beginning of Russia's new ambition and that a new and mighty Soviet Union might be on the rise. And now, we hear that the Chinese have made it clear they support Russia and the two nations are getting chummy again.
Folks, the problem isn't Putin and China, it's Obama. Weakness never plays well on the international stage and even our allies know that America will do nothing. This problem started with Georgia and continued with Obama's travels around the world blaming all of our problems on America. Putin doesn't care about that, he is a nationalist and he is giving Mother Russia a bigger buffer zone. He also puts his thumb in Obama's eye by sending a warship to Havana Harbor just because he can do it.
In the case of the Ukraine, his invasion also gives him increased leverage over Europe since the Russian pipelines to Europe are vital to fueling Western Europe and they run right through the heart of the Ukraine. Putin can turn off the spigots whenever he wants to just to make the Europeans see how critical Russian fuel is to their very existence.
And this brings up one of the biggest causes of our problems worldwide: America is hostage to other nations, many who really aren't our friends, for a high percentage of our energy. If we were to kick start the Keystone pipeline and increase our internal energy production to the level that our supplies allow, we would be the energy giant of the world. Europe wouldn't have to depend on Russia; we could provide them with reliable energy while also breaking our chains with the Middle East.
So Obama is a miserable failure on two fronts. He refuses to understand that geo-politics is a tough game to be played by seasoned and tough leaders and America's energy problems could be resolved while we search for good alternatives. Believe me, windmills which freeze up and kill some of our wonderful wildlife and corrupt solar schemes aren't the answer.
I only hope America's national security and economic viability can survive until we can rid the White House of this man with no plan and I pray that his replacement will be a no-nonsense, smart Conservative with God in his heart, not another milquetoast liberal who thinks the world will respond to us if we just smile and bluff. Just like we are learning with the current situation, when the bluff gets called things can get ugly real fast.
God bless you all and have a great day.
