We've all heard the old adage, "Money is the root of all evil", which is based on the scripture found in 1 Timothy 6:10. But we have taken it a little bit off stride from it's true phraseology, so last night I decided to focus on that particular point. Entitled It's Not Money That's the Problem, we looked at the Scripture and identified the missing link. It's not money that is the root of evil, it's the LOVE of money that is the problem. When you substitute money for God, you are headed for big problems and that was the message.
The Good Lord gave us a brain and natural tools to do good things. Making money can be a wonderful gift if you use it for God's work. Oh, that doesn't mean that you and your family can't live a comfortable life, but it does mean that you have to look at money as a gift from God which is meant to be used for the good. So your focus just needs to be much bigger than just yourself. A wealthy man who is generous toward the needs of the Kingdom is truly blessed, but one who uses his wealth totally for selfish interests is indeed lost.
This was the first of weekly programs which will air on Wednesday nights. It will include some scriptural reading, a message, great Christian music and a prayer. And as has become my habit on Sunday's it will begin with that great song by Johnny Cash, Sunday Morning Coming Down, which has a wonderful message itself about a man who has lost his way and is questioning what is needed in his life. I hope you'll tune in when you need a spiritual lift or anytime, for that matter, for now there will be shows both on the weekend and on Wednesday nights. They are presented to give comfort and focus on the Christian life and all are presented for the Glory of God.
Here's the link for last night's first show. It's available through Blog Talk Radio on demand 24/7:
