When the Senate pushed through its immigration bill last year, Senator Sessions along with other strong Conservatives like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee fought a losing battle, one that should have been won. The reason? Marco Rubio, my Senator, reneged on his campaign promise when he first began his run for the Senate, and instead of fighting the program became the front man for Chuck Schumer and the liberals. Rubio may have meant well, but the bill he supported was a disaster and it was just what Barack Obama wanted to truly end chances of Republicans ever winning a national election again.
Quite a significant number of the RINO element of the Republican Party, led by the advice of Karl Rove and other phony conservatives, jumped right on the bandwagon saying that the only way Republicans can win is with amnesty being approved. Oh, they don't call it amnesty but, frankly, in my book any time you allow illegals to break the law and then be rewarded for it calling it amnesty is accurate. But through thick and think, Jeff Sessions has stood strong and has been an eloquent fighter. And thank goodness, in the last few weeks he has even raised the level of his efforts to a new pitch.
John Boehner and his leadership team in the House is fully desirous of passing something akin to the Senate bill. Oh, they say it's different but it is really much of the same. Give amnesty and put it in place before you work on enforcement, allow the continued run on the border since the administration will do nothing to enforce existing law, and allow work status to large numbers of low skilled workers when our own people in this category are losing the hope of finding jobs. This entire process makes no sense unless it is a money grab, and that is just what Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers and LaRaza, unlikely allies, have made it. Boehner and his minions see large donations to political campaigns and the ability to run roughshod over Tea Party candidates that they truly can't control. It's really quite ironic since Boehner could have never become Speaker if it hadn't been for the Tea Party's success in the 2010 Congressional elections.
If you truly believe that Republicans, by caving to Democrats on this and like issues, can gain minority Latino votes I have a bridge to sell you. Immigrant Latinos have and will continue to support the Democratic Party upon initial arrival. They tend to favor big government and what it can provide. Analysis by the Heritage Foundation has proven this time and time again.
So what has Jeff Sessions done lately? Well, he provided the entire House Republican caucus with information with which to fight this atrocious drive to further destroy American sovereignty. He provided a list of the talking points that the amnesty advocates use routinely as well as definitive responses. From his vast experience with this subject, he has provided the conservative rank and file of the House ammunition with which to shoot down this bill once and for all. From all the indications I have received, it sounds like the conservative members used these points quite effectively at the special House retreat in Maryland in expressing their displeasure with Boehner's plans.
The Senator's opponents say it is outrageous for him to interject himself in the workings of the House. To that I say "Hogwash". Senator Sessions merely used his knowledge to let other elected officials know how to combat a process that they already oppose and how to do it most effectively. He is merely being a patriotic American elected official, trying to prevent further destruction of our economy which clearly appears to be the plan of the Left. And to that I say, "Attayboy, Senator Sesssions", and thank you for your courage and conviction. We could use a lot more Senators of his quality today in the United States Senate today.
I hope many more Americans will take the time to let the good Senator know that we appreciate him and what he is doing. The cause is a just one and this great nation is worthy of being saved. Senator Jeff Session, truly a shining light in a sea of deception.
