Tomorrow the President of the United States is set to make his decision on DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals which was approved without the consent of Congress by President Obama in his second term. It's as if Americans don't matter, that we in a nation with nearly ninety-four million men and women of working age out of work, prefer to give jobs to those who have entered the nation illegally over those who are citizens. I, for one, truly hope that Mr. Trump kills DACA tomorrow, that he sends the message that he ran on which was "America First".
Just think. If we put the effort forth the make these jobs available with decent wages to American citizens, and if we conditioned work as a prerequisite for any form of assistance by the government, we could start the changing winds toward people taking pride in the fruit of their labor instead of sitting on street corners waiting for their next welfare check.
So, Mr. President, it is important that you honor your campaign pledge and, in so doing, that you invoke the spirit of the holiday we celebrate today. Void Obama's executive order and terminate DACA. If your conscience for whatever reason bothers you, void it with a short term delay to allow Congress to consider what it should have been handling in the first place. But don't make it a long term delay, force Congress to either act or let it die a time delayed death. By at least putting the pressure on Congress, they'll once and for all have to put up or shut up and whatever they do they will have to deal with come the mid-term elections of 2018.
If you are really going to make American great again, you must enforce the law, put Americans first over the world, and be bold, not timid in your dealings with both Congress and the "Deep State" which must be deep sixed once and for all. You have good instincts that usually prove to be right and the Americans who voted for you love that about you. If you make them proud and focus on putting Americans needing work first, you can't lose.
Happy Labor Day, America, and pray for a solution finally to be applied to this problem that was of the politicians making. Next time you go to the ballot box, remember that and hold them accountable accordingly.
