Recently I wrote about Brian Williams, the NBC anchor who has told more whoppers than Burger King has sold recently. And his plight made me think of Hillary, who also has quite a record of embellishing the facts with incredible abandon. Just a few include: describing the ordeal of landing in Iraq under fire (false, her aircraft was under no assault as she arrived quietly), being named for Sir Edmund Hillary (false, she was born a number of years before his feat) and, worst of all, claiming that the attack on Benghazi was caused by a little seen video (false, it has been made clear that the assault was planned and even the State Department initially recognized the cause was Muslim Brotherhood jihad). While the first two examples were rather trivial, they do show a penchant for wanting to be something unique and special even if it requires a lie. But the last item really gets to the crux of the matter and we'll come back to it a little later.
Hillary's career lays out what to me shows her shortfalls as a leader. After completing law school, she met Bill Clinton and the two of them were already planning for politics. Although she never liked the South, she accompanied him to Arkansas where he, of course, served as Governor. It is here where Hillary honed her skills as the manager of Bill's problems, developed as she became the fixer for his dalliances or "bimbo eruptions". But, of course, she was also half of the Whitewater scandal over a land deal that was caused by the fervent desire that both she and Bill had to get rich. And while they were tainted by it, Slick Willie began his amazing cycle of always slipping through the cracks and limited firm evidence.
In the White House, she became brutal as his unofficial manager. She destroyed the White House travel office and ruined its long time manager's career, managed all of Bill's "bimbo eruptions" by destroying the reputations of the women who claimed abuse by her husband and even was in the thick of the Vince Foster tragedy, a loyal aide to Bill who was found murdered in Fort Marcy after last having been seen at the White House. Hillary was the one going through his office before the Park Police even arrived to investigate. And never forget that she was the mastermind of Hillarycare, the failed attempt to nationalize and control the health system which was the model for Obamacare, today's medical disaster that no one wants.
When Bill left office, Hillary wanted to be somebody and the Democratic Party obliged, nominating her for a safe seat from New York State where she served in mediocre fashion. This was a "carpet bagger" in reverse story as Hillary had never previously resided in New York and would never want to return to Arkansas.
Lastly was her service as Secretary of State, carrying out her duties at a time when American prestige and image abroad was waning, largely due to the positions of her boss, Barack Obama, but not helped by her performance. The stain of Benghazi where she did nothing to save four men who died horrifically was bad enough, but she then tried to cover up what happened, a situation that we are still trying to clear up, no thanks to the cover up of the State Department and the Executive Branch in general.
Somehow I think her statement when being grilled over Benghazi, "What difference does it make", will come back to haunt her. The death of four American citizens makes a huge difference, Hillary, and your lack of concern and compassion for the families of the lost shows just how totally cold and self-centered you are. And with a career that was primarily a supporting family role for the roving eye of husband Bill but for which the Democrats rewarded her with support of a pliant liberal media, she really has accomplished very little to be proud of. But I must give her credit for using great skill to connect with a man who was going places and using it to her advantage. However, that is not an accomplishment worthy of any special place in history or the office of a major world leader.
Folks, Hillary has done nothing that would indicate she is a great leader or even particularly competent as a manager. And her policy positions are very close to those of Obama and in some cases even more drastic. After eight years of fundamental change in America, we don't need more of the liberal mindsight. We need to reverse course and I think the American people are of that mind.
Of course, strange things can happen in politics, and with the strong press support she has as well as the Republican penchant to grab defeat from the jaws of victory (I like to call it RINOism) we really can't count her out. But for the sake of our future, freedom and national solvency, she should never be placed in a position of critical importance again. We can do better.
Let's save America, not mire her in deeper misery and despair. Just say no to Hillary.
