Sounds good, right? Don't be fooled by the rhetoric. It is merely political speak for stating that they will compromise with Obama and back off from the many campaign promises that they have routinely made to us and just as routinely forgotten about. Remember the repeal Obamacare promise? The leadership has largely sold that one out, opting instead for some tweaking of the system which will still leave the average Joe heavily in hock for premiums for an inferior product that has limited value. Or how about balancing the budget? Both Boehner and McConnell have continually opted for kicking the can down the road by allowing the Democrats to spend and spend with no accountability and to the detriment of our national credit standing. This has got to stop and the brakes need to be applied right now.
The only way we can get the results we need is for we, the people to speak up and make our voices heard as one. Make a commitment to call your Congress critters both in the Senate and the House once a week and let them know what you expect. A good place to start is with the budget during the lame duck session. Tell your representatives that you will not accept an Omnibus Budget being committed to by the lame duck session. That should be left to the new Congress which will take their seats in January. Tell them for now to pass a Continuing Resolution, but one with some limitations.
The illegal amnesty Executive Order needs to be defunded. Refuse to include any funding for it in the CR and also put similar restrictions on Obamacare expenditures. Obama needs to be told under no uncertain terms that Congress will no longer allow the President to usurp their power of the purse authority and then they must act like they mean it.
And what if it results in a government shut down? Well, so be it. It won't last for long and Republicans need to actively speak up and put the blame if that happens where it lies: directly on the shoulders of a President who has been acting beyond his legal capacity.
And then stop worrying about the shut down. Despite what the Republican Establishment tries to spoon feed us, the shutdown last year did absolutely nothing of detriment to Republican objectives. As a matter of fact, if the RINOs hadn't been so cowardly by picking on Ted Cruz instead of the real problem, it would have turned out very positive. As it turned out, we had a huge win despite the gloom and doom that they tried to create about the subject last year. Stop listening to their hype and look at the facts.
If we will only use our eyes and ears as a guideline concerning the direction we need to be taking we will be fine. And if we are unified, we can sway the "Big Boys in the Swamp", for nothing worries them more than an electorate that has seen the light and if they want to retain their lofty positions, they will listen. Ronald Reagan proved that twice in the '80's. Let's get busy and do this thing. We have a country to save.
