After over two thousand years, the story of Jesus Christ, from birth to adulthood and His ministry and, ultimately, to His horrific death for our sins, still stands out as "The Greatest Story Ever Told". And while we let the kids have a fun time with laughter and play, let us commit to raising them as followers of Christ, putting Him first in their lives and, of course, in ours as well.
When we put Jesus Christ first, and allow ourselves to fall back into second, we make the commitment that will never fail us and will ultimately lead us to our salvation with Him and the Father in Heaven. You see, God the Father made us in His image to live our lives that same way. And while He knows that we are weak mortals who will continue to sin, it is through His son Jesus Christ that we receive forgiveness as we try to overcome our human frailty. Through Jesus Christ is the only route to the Father, and if we strive to correct ourselves and commit to Him, even though we will falter, we will successfully make the cut. There will be a lot of cuts on Judgment Day.
So on this second Sunday of Advent, remember again the Reason for the Season and strive for perfection. He knows who loves Him and strives to live in His example as well as who does not. And while He loves each of us, He also expects us to do what is right and unlike so much of human lifestyle today, we will suffer the consequences of non-compliance. There are absolutes in His Law.
Follow Him to ultimate Eternity through faith and trust in the One who we celebrate this month. Have joy and love in your heart for Jesus, honor the Father and listen for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity holds the answer to everything.
God bless you all and God bless America.
