Now I know that many of us work hard to follow Jesus and want to do in our lives what the Holy Spirit brings to us from Him, but we nonetheless often we falter and come up short and feel ashamed that we have not met the mark. But friends, don't fee ashamed and downhearted, for He knew that we would make mistakes and sin for, after all, we are mere mortals. Only He was and is the first and only man on earth to live the perfect life.
But He lived on this earth and died a most horrific death to give us the opportunity to inherit the Kingdom with Him when we die. And for those of us who believe and have faltered, which means all of us, Sunday offers a great time to recommit and make a pledge to keep the promise that we made when we said we vowed to be Christians. And that's one of the wonderful things about Sunday. Attending church in the company of others who face the same battles yet also profess allegiance to Him offers a great opportunity. It is the opportunity to clear the cobwebs and remember what is important and ask for His forgiveness for the errors of our ways.
On this Sunday, pledge to ask the question: What am I gonna' with the rest of my life? The answer is easy: follow Him. The actual implementation is not so easy for there are so many temptations placed in our daily lives to tempt us to falter, but if we take it one day at a time and truly ask for His guidance and love in our lives, we will overcome. And the ultimate outcome? Well, it's strictly Heavenly.
Lord, We thank you for the blessings, beauty and love that you have given us to enjoy in our earthly life. And we know that the gift of free will has been given so that we have the freedom to make our own choices. But help us to always choose the right direction for our life, for we know that free will brings responsibility and responsibility can offer both great joy and great sorrow depending on the choices we make. Direct our lives to make the right ones. And we humbly ask you to do this by keeping our hearts open, yearning for you and accepting the Holy Spirit as our guide and counsel as sent to us by your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who died for us. We promise to do our utmost to stay the course and follow your Way. In Christ's name we ask, Amen.
Enjoy your Sunday and have a great day, but always remember to worship Him first. God bless.
