It's been another crazy week with politics run wild and people worried about their future while working hard if they are lucky enough to have a job. And now it's Saturday, a good day to spend with family and friends and do something you like.
Might I suggest a day in the outdoors if your weather is good, for nothing is better for the soul than the great outdoors. I am blessed to be in rural North Florida where the days are getting longer and warmer. We had an unseasonably chilly night last night, gray and dreary in the upper 30's but this morning dawned clear and once the sun makes it over the trees it will quickly rise to the low 70's. Tomorrow it may even approach 80.
Spending time outdoors is a great way to appreciate the world around you and it's beauty can also bring you closer to God. For some, doing some yard work is relaxing, for others it can be an afternoon at the lake or at the shore fishing, maybe even taking a hike on a scenic trail. The point is to see the world as it ought to be seen, in it's natural state away from the hectic rat race of the work week. It's a ways of recharging your physical and mental batteries with the change of pace, just like going to church tomorrow can recharge your spiritual batteries; we all need that, too.
So "forget your troubles, come on, get happy" at least for a short spell. Have a natural blast with your better half and your kids if you have 'em or, if not, with some friends, or even in meditation. You might even finish the day with a cookout. You'll find that all of the trials and tribulations of this world can be put back into the recesses of your mind and then, when coupled with your worship tomorrow, you'll be rested and better prepared for the stress that will likely come your way again next week.
Call it a natural and spiritual remedy weekend. Enjoy your time off and remember, God is the one who makes all things possible. God bless.
