I like to capture my prayer thoughts on paper as they give me ideas for the future and, of course, they can be used again and again whenever I feel them appropriate. I'd like to invite you to join me this morning. Prayer knows no limits in time or space so our words will blend together to create a power of numbers that will help each of us to handle whatever issues we might face.
Dear Heavenly Father: We thank you for the wonderful gift of precious life that you have given us and for the beautiful earth that you have allowed us to inhabit during our earthly experience. Help us to care for her and nurture her so that we and others who follow us will have an environment to enjoy and embrace for many generations to come.
Father, bless our men and women in uniform wherever they serve and keep them safe and secure knowing that you are there to comfort and guide them always. And help us always to be mindful of our need to put you first, for if we put you first in our lives we can never fail. Let us allow success to be determined under the value structure that you would have us follow, not one created by weak and mortal man.
Be with our Christian brethren and other good and just people everywhere who are suffering so severely under the evil terrorist extremism so visible today. Keep them in your heart and help them to open their soul to you for all of the protection that your great power can provide.
Also, Lord, help us to learn from our sinful past and strive to meet the challenge that Jesus Christ set for us during His life on earth as the only perfect man to ever walk on its surface. Help us to follow His teachings and keep our heart filled with love for others, for we know that love truly conquers all. And help us to always remember that the guidance counselor He provided to us after the resurrection, the Holy Spirit, is always there to help us stay on the course of righteousness by always choosing good over evil.
Finally, Father, help us to never forget the sacrifice of pain, suffering and also death which Jesus went through so that we could be forgiven for our sins. This sacrifice, so horrific and final, is what has given us the opportunity to live eternally with you and Jesus in Heaven above. We yearn for the day when we can be with you and experience the joy that is beyond all possible expectations. We ask in the name of The Christ who made it all possible by following your command and offering us freedom from sin, Amen.
Have a wonderful Sunday and remember to always live for Him. You can never go wrong if you do.
