The other thing I remember vividly was my folks telling stories about when they were children. At the time it was the years of the early 1950s and to hear about the 1920s and 30s sounded like ancient times. Even more unbelievable, thinking about the years ahead, like our new 2014 seemed impossible. I remember thinking about things like the Jetsons and trying to imagine what the changes would be like.
2013 was a tough year for America but I am optimistic that God-fearing citizens are awakening to the threats to our way of life and will come together to work for a rebirth of the American Spirit. We all need to take time to think about how freedom and capitalism, along with God in our hearts, made America into the greatest land on earth and we would be absolute fools to let phony promises take it away from us. So I hope you will join me on this New Year's Day 2014 to resolve to bring America back under the guidance of our Almighty Father.
Enjoy this holiday which closes out the Christmas Season, get your fill of college football, and don't forget the black-eyed peas and cabbage for money and good luck. Then tomorrow, when we settle back in to the normal routine, let's get to work for God and country. We can learn from our mistakes and be better for it. Let's just do it.
Lord, Give us the strength and the resolve to turn our wonderful country around. Open our hearts as a nation to receive the Holy Spirit and infect each of us both individually and as a group which loves Thee as a community to receive Thy wisdom and guidance in the big task we have ahead of us. Bless us in our endeavors and help us to bring on board others in mass numbers, for with Thee at our side and a large and energetic populace willing to do the heavy lifting we can make America that shining light for the world that it has been in the past. In times of discouragement, lift our spirits and in times of success don't allow us to get overly sure of ourselves and also help us to recruit those who have been against us by showing them by our example and our love for others the blessings and salvation that they can also obtain by following Jesus Christ and Thy Word. We ask in the name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ who died so that we might live. Amen
God bless you and God bless America. Happy New Year.
