This, my friends, is the situation in Israel, of late being subjected to a higher volume of potential death and destruction than ever before even though she has suffered from this type of "neighborliness" since the modern creation of her statehood after World War II. And while so many Americans wail and moan about the death of children from Gaza, I think it is important to note that the cause of their death is Hamas, not Israel. They have deliberately chosen to use the children and many others as human shields and, after disaster strikes, they parade crying mothers with their wounded and even dead children in front of the cameras in the attempt to gain media support for their evil cause. And, of course, the liberal mainstream generally buys their line in its entirety, inadvertently putting a positive spin on an evil organization.
Time and again Israel has agreed to ceasefires and peace agreements only to have them violated by Hamas which never negotiated in good faith. The most recent action has been caused by another broken truce with up to 160 rockets being fired into Israel daily from Gaza as well as some from Lebanon and Syria. And Israel's Iron Dome missile shield has been very effective, yet it is impossible to stop all incoming missiles due to sheer volume.
Look, I don't want to see children suffering and die either, but I am so tired of people either putting the blame on Israel or saying that for peace she should just stop fighting back. Every nation has the right to self defense and no country has made more effort when it has had to respond militarily to try to give warning of where the action will be. Israel informed Gaza that the zone of military action should be evacuated by women and children, yet when her military rolled across the checkpoint and the action started, many civilians remained, some directly where the missile launchers were located. And, by giving advance warning, the element of surprise was compromised by Israel in her attempt to reduce casualties, thereby resulting in additional Israeli casualties.
My liberal friends like to say that peace must be achieved no matter what the cost. They say that it is easy to do so, just stop the action and report any truce violations to the international community. By international community I assume they are talking about the UN, an organization where the General Assembly is hapless and subject to a heavy anti-Jewish slant. This is the same version of the truth and naivete that allowed Neville Chamberlain to declare "peace in our time" in 1938 at Munich, and we know what happened quickly thereafter, with World War II and the death of 6 million Jews and millions of soldiers on both sides.
No, my friends, the only way to achieve real peace is through strength and Israel will not surrender to the whim of an idealistic world. She wants peace, we all want peace, but peace will only come when Hamas and like forces in the Middle East acknowledge Israel's right to statehood, something they just won't do.
And the United States, normally the leader of working out arrangements, has completely caved to the views of Hamas as Obama's envoy, the haughty John Kerry, continues to blame Israel for everything and deliver ridiculous demands. Even today, after visiting Israel, he then flew to Cairo to meet with President el Sisi in an effort to further peace. Guess what he found out? Egypt and Israel have already come up with a potential plan which Egypt would be willing to monitor. Hamas refuses to even consider it, just like the Palestinians have done ever since the days of Yasser Arafat. If they want peace, they will get rid of their rockets, get to work trying to build a livable community in Gaza instead of turning it into a teeming slum, and come to the table with openness and honesty. If not, Israel will uncover the tunnels, destroy the rockets, and do what is necessary to protect her citizens.
So, in a nutshell, peace can be relative easy but only if. And the if is a big one and which must be resolved first. God bless Israel, the land of Abraham, the chosen people of the Old Testament and the birthplace of Jesus Christ. I pray that she will be safe and that the decent people of Gaza somehow demand that Hamas come to its senses so that the killing can stop, but pacifism in the face of terror is never an option. Until that is realized, the battle between Semite cousins will continue as it has for thousands of years.
