Today, however, the cards are quite different. The leftist dominated city council continues to favor the idea and with Bill deBlasio, the extreme left Mayor actively urging it, the idea will likely be considered again with a potential change of outcome. While a majority of New Yorkers, particularly the hard working taxpayers and the legal citizens are standing in opposition to such action, Mayor deBlasio and his supporters are likely to do just what the left always does, do what they want irrespective of the people's wishes. And with deBlasio already stating he is going to want a second term with the probable support of the Hollywood loons and their big bucks, he is likely to be successful eventually, even if he decides to back off for this year.
Several localities are already allowing illegals to vote in certain situations such as school board elections. Maryland has some communities doing this and California, if not already doing so, has voiced strong support. And it brings up the question which no one wants to answer: So why do we have citizenship in the first place? And while most of us know the reason, many on the left just say that we are all "citizens of the world" and that's what matters. Besides, they say, why shouldn't parents of children, illegal or otherwise, be able to select their school system leaders?
Be careful on this one, folks, because with New York being a safe zone for illegals and deBlasio determined to destroy American values and cultural patterns, the day may not be far off when New Yorkers need to understand Spanish to attend a school board meeting. And the push will be on by many to push this approach everywhere. But, then again, before that happens most traditional citizens, the ones who pay taxes and don't create trouble, will probably be bailing on a city that is crumbling day by day like Detroit. Where is Rudy Guiliani when they need him?
But there's even a larger issue beginning to surface, but I'll save that for my next post. But here's a teaser question to whet your appetite. How many illegals do you think voted in American elections in 2008 and 2010? You might be surprised by the answer and we'll talk about that next time. In the meantime, have a great day and God bless you all.
