But seriously, folks, yesterday's vote in the House to support Obama's usurpation of trade treaty approval by their own stupidity shows just how far down in the depths our political system has fallen. And I think we all know it and are frustrated and that explains some of the strange happenings in party politics as we prepare for the 2016 campaign.
What do I mean? Well, I'm talking about the two surprise candidates, one in each party, who seem to have created a spark that might make our citizens pay attention to what is happening to them. Who would have expected Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump to offer themselves up for the Presidency of the Democratic and Republican parties, respectively? And further, who would have expected them to receive increasing attention when many expected another Clinton or Bush to grab the total spotlight?
Now do either one of these two candidates have a chance of becoming President? Probably not, but they do represent the fact that most Americans aren't real happy with the way things are headed in both party bases, one group on the left and the other on the right. People are looking for someone who listens to them and is willing to "tell it like it is", not the mush of partial lies and outright falsehoods that the Establishment offers these days. And that is actually refreshing in a time of political correctness and national turmoil.
And Donald Trump is particularly interesting. A man with an estimated nine billion dollars in personal assets, he has the money and the organization to truly get his message out, one which is quite good if you take the time to look for it. Breitbart Big Government had an artrcle about it two days ago. It talked about common sense, making good decisions, eliminating debt and only entering conflict if there is a will to win and then receiving funding from the country to which help was provided. It sounded logical and well thought out, not political pablum and I think it could resonate quite well.
Sanders, with a different mind set and goal, has called Hillary out. He wants answers to the things in her closet (enough to fill an old train baggage car from years gone by) and he's likely to keep it up. If Hillary's truthfulness poll numbers keep going down, anything is possible. We'll just have to watch.
Folks, the 2016 elections put us in uncharted waters. Never before have Americans faced a time when the current leadership doesn't seem to be concerned in the least with their plight and future. Sadly, the political elites are all about themselves and their riches and power. So Americans are rapidly picking up on that and the candidates who can best respond and resonate to that will be the ones who will rise to the top over time. Whether or not it can be men like Sanders and Trump only time will tell, but I will say this, they are going to make it interesting and they are going to bring up the tough questions in their respective parties and I think that is a breath of fresh air.
If you want to ponder this further, it was the topic of my North Florida Writer Live show last night and you might enjoy listening. It can be seen on demand here:

And hopefully, we will get the answer to the question captioned with Washington, Jefferson and Franklin. It's definitely time for us to get this great land back on track and maybe this little breeze blowing toward Washington will turn into a gale. Here's hoping.
God bless you all and have a great day.
