- Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
As both the cartoon character and the writings of Apostle Paul in his letter the the Galatians state, people always want things to happen for them now, not later. And while it was true back in Paul's time, in today's modern world it is much more so than ever before. Living in a fast-paced world where materialism is drilled into our heads by constant media bombardment, we think we deserve everything in our dreams even if we have done nothing to earn it.
But God doesn't work that way, folks. He gave us life, free will and a beautiful world to which he granted us dominion yet it never seems to be enough for us, does it? What we want, we want, even if we really don't need it and it is even found in so many prayers where we ask God for help without properly thanking Him for what we already have.
On this week's Sunday Morning Coming Down we will talk about this situation. We will talk about God's goodness, love for us and His many promises to us and how they will be delivered according to His timetable, not ours. If we are truly willing to live the way He desires and devote ourselves to Him, we will be greatly rewarded. And the ultimate reward, Eternal Life, requires patience and perseverance, for they make us appreciate our good fortune and help us to mature. There is no "free lunch", even for us from God, but if we devote ourselves to him we will be led to the ultimate banquet where we will never hunger or thirst again.
We hope you'll join us for our message, some good Christian music, Biblical readings and prayer. Give yourself an early weekend spiritual boost as you prepare to gather together with others on Sunday to worship Him. Here's the link:
The show will go live Friday night and then be available on demand all weekend long and beyond. God bless you all.
