I look at it this way. We go through cycles of high and low. They can be caused by physical and psychological reasons, the things we focus on and what we spend our time on as well as our spiritual outlook. All of us, even the best of us, have moments when we waste time on things that we shouldn't and we worry about things we can do nothing about. It's kind of like the news. Bad stories sell, good stories get put on the back page and try as we might, sensationalism usually affects our senses. So what to do?
Well, realize that we are frail and faulty beings and that we need constant reinforcement of "the right stuff" to keep us upbeat and cheerful. I can't answer for anyone else, but for me that means remembering the One who brought me into this world through the gift of life, the love that He has for me and all of us and the gift of Etrnity that He has promised if only I believe in Him. I leave church every Sunday upbeat and glowing, allow some of the glow to disappear in some of the things that I witness on Monday, but see Tuesday as a day for a quick recharge, a time to readjust my senses and use the knowledge gained through this awareness to carry me through the rest of the week.
Maybe this sounds weird to some of you, but it makes all the sense in the world since we are mere mortals and not perfect. So how do you try and reach perfection? That's easy. You pay attention to the One who was perfect on earth and follow His guidance. It will never serve you wrong.
There, just like how I feel when I leave my monthly chiropractor visit, my mind has now rid itself of that awful kink. Have a great day.
