When I compare the greatness of these brave men with our politicians, I quickly realize there is no comparison. Just think about it for a minute. Can you imagine any of our politicians today willing to sacrifice their comfort, their personal wealth or even their life for the cause of liberty. And therein lies the dilemma of modern day America, for we have gone from leadership by men searching for a new destiny under the divine guidance of an Almighty God to a system where our leaders put their personal well-being first and that of their constituents who elected them on the back burner. And it doesn't matter which party, for they all have been enveloped by the thirst for power, prestige and money as they have turned what was supposed to have been a temporary citizen-legislator situation into a career.
So on this day, the 239th birthday of the United States of America, we Americans need to look at things differently. Let's look at things with the dignity and honor of those who began this great country and resolve that we will work to return her to her noble roots. It won't be easy, but if we want our country to once again prosper and thrive, we must dedicate ourselves to the cause. And to be successful, we must once again put our faith in God because without Him at our side, we will surely fail.
Won't you join me in a short prayer on this national birthday?
Dear Lord, We thank you for the wonderful nation that you have given us and for the sacrifice that so many before us willingly paid to keep us free. We worry about the direction we are headed and we pray that you will give us the strength and the guidance to turn this nation around and put it once again under your protective grace. America is the greatest nation on the earth and we know that it is up to us to step up and resolve to save this Republic and keep it operational in a way that is seen by you with favor. May your blessings ever flow on the United States of America. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, who died that we might have the opportunity to live. Amen.
Happy birthday, America.
