Sadly, many Americans don't think about the stress and strain that military members and their families go through. Long hours, deployments which separate family members for long periods of time, the constant danger that comes with military service, stress and now even the impact of political correctness. For the Christian in uniform, a form of both discrimination and insensitivity to their religion is being found more and more in all branches of service. Chaplains are under great pressure to remove Jesus from any of their services, in some places crosses are being removed, and Christians have even been disciplined for not openly accepting activities and beliefs which are repugnant to their souls and unacceptable to their religious doctrine. While these actions are supposed to be precluded from happening, more and more evidence is available to indicate that they are, in fact, taking place. So in the name of tolerance, the military leadership is treating the largest group of military personnel, Christians, with a level of intolerance for merely trying to honor their religious beliefs in peace.
These good and strong patriotic Americans who serve their country deserve so much better, so I hope you will join me in a prayer in support of them and their service:
Dear Lord, Many of America's finest, young men and women of Christian faith in uniform are facing a growing level of hostility and pressure directed against their love and devotion for you. They are being asked to openly accept and endorse a lifestyle which they consider immoral, against your law and guidance, and many are being threatened with dismissal from service or otherwise been pressured to leave service for standing by their beliefs. A military establishment that was founded in the belief in you and your Commandments to Moses and the teachings of Jesus Christ has apparently turned its back on these fine people for political expediency and likely due to cowardice as well. Keep them strong and upright knowing that living their life for you is the most important thing they can do.
And Lord, help those who are inflicting such mental anguish on them see your warmth and light and change the error of their ways. For these young Christians do not want to inflict harm or suffering on those who pervert your law, but they do expect to carry out their duties with the respect that they deserve. They represent love and peace in a line of work that is constantly thrown into conflict with evil and they should not have to experience additional and ungodly stresses from those who are supposed to be their leaders and mentors.
And finally, God, help those who practice what we Christians consider an unnatural lifestyle also to see the error of their ways and turn to you, for we truly seek for all mankind to accept and earn salvation with you in the life to come. We ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for all of our sins, Amen.
Keep the Faith of our Fathers and Onward, Christian Soldiers. We stand with you and salute you and God is with you.
