Why? Because the Obama Administration hates all fossil fuels. It's as simple as that. Oh, they talk about increased natural gas and oil production, but the reality is they are actively doing everything in their power to kill all fossil production. Look at the Keystone pipeline, look at the fact that they don't approve drilling on federal lands (all of the recent increases in production were on private property which the feds don't control), and look at the severe cutbacks in oil production in Alaska and the Gulf. Yet, they encourage Brazil to produce more so that they can increase, not reduce, our reliance on unreliable sources for energy, costing us more in terms of price and American jobs.
But nothing is as heartbreaking as to watch THE WAR ON COAL. And Congress isn't even involved for the President just continues to use Executive Orders for all of his dictatorial edicts. Meanwhile, the Senate sits back and does nothing and the House has been neutered by fear.
Coal is a huge source electricity for many states; nationwide it's about 40%. In Ohio, for instance, coal plants are being closed and miners laid off in a state that depends on coal for nearly 80% of its power. West Virginia, a state that has always suffered from poverty, is finding the situation becoming even more grave as miners are being laid off in huge numbers. Finally, here in Florida, my particular section of the state is nearly 100% dependent on coal for electricity. And replacement technology, questionable if it will be cost effective when full scale, is only in its infancy.
Here's the bottom line: America has done a better job of cleaning up fossil fuels than anyplace on earth. Instead of continuing to make reasonable improvement and use our God-given resources as intended, the Administration just wants to shut them down. And the cost of electricity will quickly skyrocket while the energy we have in the ground that is still being produced will go to the highest bidder, China and other countries that are not particularly fond of us.
Do you remember when the President said you could keep your doctor and costs would go down with Obamacare? It didn't work out so well did it?. And with coal it's even worse, because the President told his Left wing backers before being reelected that he would make coal so expensive to produce that it woudn't be affordable. And how does he do this? Why the EPA, of course. This rogue agency answers to no one but the President and our other elected officials spend all of their time figuring out how to get us involved in overseas turmoil while the turmoil is rapidly building here at home.
So what do we need to do? All Americans need to contact each of their elected officials and demand that the EPA be defunded, often and repeatedly. It must be done in mass numbers, respectfully, yet strong. And then, if they don't respond with action to end the madness, we need to vote them out of office and replace them with common sense Conservatives, not Lefties and RINOs. After all, they have gone along with the problem and made it worse. That tells me they are part of the problem and not the solution.
Now I am a supporter of the environment with an advanced degree in the field and related work experience, but the EPA was never designed to destroy America, and that's what this regime is doing. They have even gone so far as to violate the law by doing business using private email accounts under made up names. Does this bring the disgraced former EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, to mind? And the administrative madness continues with different people. Meanwhile pollution will soar as China and the developing world will continue to belch their rancid smoke skyward to be carried by wind currents right back here to America. Great plan, Mr. President.
I think the only word that expresses my real feeling about this is stupd? How can Americans be so stupid? And I guess the only way we'll learn is when the lights go out. I think it will probably come to that. After all, solar and windmills just won't cut it. They aren't ready and right now the biggest notice about them is how they kill endangered birds. Nice job, environmentalists.
Let's all wake up and face the music, America. If we don't, God help us as we return to the Stone Age. Not having TV will be the least of your problems.
