What makes it even worse is that he went to the emergency room last week and was sent him with antibiotics. Even after telling the nurse that he had been in Liberia, a nation under viral siege, they let him leave, only to return with active symptoms two days later. And last night we learned that he had been in contact with a large number of people including many children in the interim.
As if this isn't enough, a mystery enterovirus dubbed EV-D68 is sweeping across the nation and infecting large numbers of school age children. And it would seem to be more than a coincidence that the virus has shown up predominantly in areas where illegal children from Central America have been relocated by our government. Reports are surfacing of paralysis similar to that found in polio being one of the symptoms and one child in Los Angeles, a beautiful ten year old girl, died yesterday, sending many parents into panic.
So we could be facing multiple epidemics in America with horrific potential impact that is totally unnecessary. And the question remains this: Why is the United States accepting so many people from so many foreign lands with no regard for the impact on our own citizens? Folks, you know the situation is bad when even Chris Mathews, the man who "got a thrill up his leg" thinking about President Obama is even criticizing him? And medical authorities are beginning to come out of the woodwork stating what most know: the best way to fight a potential epidemic is to isolate it at the source. The exception to that view comes from the Centers for Disease Control, an organization that today seems more interested in a politically correct answer than a medically responsible one.
Expect many more to be infected and do what you can to stay away from large crowds. I wouldn't recommend flying these days but everyone has to decide for his or herself. But I do know one thing. Our President has, in my opinion, unnecessarily subjected his countrymen to medical issues which could have been easily avoided. Had we closed the border and stopped accepting visitors from the disease ground point zero the likelihood of rapid spread could have been dramatically reduced. Sadly, our leaders, those charged with putting America's safety first have once again fallen down on the job.
I guess we're on our own, folks, so stay alert and be as cautious as you can be despite having things to do. Be calm and don't panic. It might be a good idea to pray for those who are sick speedily recover and for quick passage of this latest physical scourge on the world. Beyond that, I guess we must turn it over to God. May He always bless America and may we always follow His guidance.
