Light and darkness, two words that are used so often in the Bible and add such meaning to the Word. Light, of course, represents goodness and life. When we are in the light, we can see clearly what is about us and therefore can contemplate what we should do if anything is taking place. In the dark, however, when it is pitch black, a strange noise or movement, or even a pain in our body is noticed readily yet we know there is very little we can do. We are helpless because we can't even move without running into things around us.
Both of these words are very important to we humans as we try to figure out what to do and how to do them in our earthly life. If we are exposed to the Light of Life, Our Lord and Savior and believe in Him by faith, then we have guidance readily from the Holy Spirit who resides in us, the Third Person of God. It is that same Holy Spirit who channels us to the Savior, who is our direct intermediary and advocate with His Father.
If we are not exposed to the Light of Life, then we face a different guiding factor, the Fallen One or the Dark Angel, who will beguile us and lead us down the path he has taken which led to his banishment from heaven in the first place. God granted his free reign on earth since through free will each of us has to make our own choice. So, the choice is The Light or Goodness, where we live as our Creator teaches us, or the Darkness or Evil, choosing the choice of earthly desires as a reason for living which will only take us down. God wants us with Him when earthly life is done in the glory of His Kingdom where a place has been prepared for us. The Evil One wants us with him as well, only it's in the bottomless pit of the soulless for which we will suffer for eternity.
So, the next time we are faced with a decision that can be frightening due to a mistake we have made and we witness what is about to befall us, we must open our hearts and ask God to provide His love and protection and let Him know that we have chosen His way. We will be glad and we will never have to worry no matter what happens, because we are His. And we won't want to ever make the same mistake, even though we will still occasionally make mistakes. After all, we are mortal and frail and He knows that. Yet He will forgive us when He sees what is in your heart. What could be greater than that?
