This book has been more fun in the preparation than anything I've ever penned. It's a major change from my last book, Thou Shall Not Take Our Land, a political fiction, and while it has the link of God's nature to my religious book, A Blogger Shares His Faith, the main theme is how this boy from the city with little knowledge of horses was changed by falling in love. It's about my life with the little girl in the picture after she grew up.
She's "The Horse Lady" and my wife, Charyl, a woman who loves horses right down to her soul. She lives, breathes and sleeps horses, yet still finds time to fit me in. Of course, being her step and fetch it when it comes to many horse chores comes with that, but it is now second nature to me.
From my earliest days after I met her and knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, to the training she gave me to learn about and become comfortable around big, beautiful animals, many stories unfold. They are about changing situations, the different personalities of each horse, the enjoyment I derive as well as the occasional pain I suffer which comes with the territory. But through it all, loving a very special woman, who told me right up front, "Love me, love my horses", has been wonderful. It has brought me new knowledge, kept me in shape, and brought me closer to nature which has also enhanced and strengthened my faith and love.
If you like horses, this book will be enjoyable with it's mix of seriousness and humor, particularly in the mistakes I made along the way. If you are a "Horse Lady" yourself, you should be able to directly relate to my "Horse Lady" since I've learned that all "horse ladies" have a common bond. And if you are a "Horse Husband" like me, hopefully you can commiserate with me as we go. And guys, don't say that you do nothing with the horses, that they all are her problem. If true, she likely won't put up with you for long.
Living with a "Horse Lady" is a learning and a loving experience. It's demanding, it's beautiful, it's sometimes muddy and cold or hot as blazes, but the love it brings to your heart is well worth any trials along the way. The book should go live on Kindle by Thanksgiving and, Lord willing, be published in paperback soon thereafter. I'll keep you posted and put the Amazon book page address up as soon as it's available. Happy riding and reading!
