A Profile of Christian Courage: Adoniram Judson (1788-1850)

PictureAdoniram Judson, Baptist Missionary
While we American Christians are often troubled these days with some of the changes we see in our great land, we have very little experience with what courage could be required of us in maintaining and proclaiming our faith in Jesus Christ.  Adoniram Judson, the first missionary sponsored by the Baptist Church, and the man who convinced the church to start its World Missions organization, is a good example of some of the extremes of sacrifice and courage that Christians are called to live.  I think he offers us a picture of what sacrifice and devotion really entails.

Judson was born in coastal Massachusetts, the son of a Congregational minister.  His promise was discovered early when he was able to read a passage from the Bible to his parents at the tender age of three and as a student he excelled, graduating from the College of Rhode Island (now Brown University) as the Valedictorian of his class at the age of 19.  To the regret of his parents, however, he fell under the influence of his best friend at college, Jacob Eames, a Deist.  While acknowledging the existence of God, he nonetheless began to doubt the active involvement of God in the life of man.

Starting work as a teacher, he lost touch with Eames but decided a year or so later that he wanted to find out where he was.  On horseback, he traveled around the New York City area looking for him.  Alas, after a futile search, one night he stopped at a roadside inn for lodging and, while having difficulty sleeping, listened to the man in the next room who sounded to be in agony.  The innkeeper told him he was caring for the man who was very ill.

Early the next morning, Judson inquired of his host as to the condition of the man and was told that he had passed during the night.  When he asked who the man was, he was told it was Jacob Eames.  He had looked diligently for his friend only to find himself lodging in the room next door at the time of his death.

Judson took this as a sign that he had better straighten up his life and get back to a godly life and he took heed.  He embarked on the road to the ministry and, while preparing himself, he saw an English sailor's
pamphlet about Burma and its lack of Christianity and saw this as a golden opportunity to serve his God in a special way.

Completing his studies, he requested and received assignment as a missionary and, with his new bride Anne, sailed for Burma.  Somewhere along the way he became convinced that immersion was the only way to be baptized and, as a result, became a Baptist.  Because of this belief and the resultant need for a new sponsorship, he was able to convince the Baptist Church through his initiative, good manners and conviction to sponsor him and several others as the first Baptist missionary to Burma.

Life and work were not easy for the young man in Burma.  He was harassed, even spent some time in prison, and it took him seven years to gain his first convert.  This task was made almost impossible by the Burmese Buddhist government which would issue a death warrant to any Buddhist disavowing his faith for Christianity.

Other problems came along because of the assignment and the circumstances.  His son died at eight months, his first wife and a later wife died due to health conditions caused by the climate and diseases of the time, yet Judson labored on.  His spirit and hope was reinforced at a time when he was doubting himself when he learned of his thirty-five year old brother's death, a man who had not been a  believer, who saw the error of his ways and accepted Jesus before his death.

In the end, following a forty year commitment to his mission in Burma, Judson left behind a legacy of seven thousand baptized converts, sixty-three Baptist congregations, and assignment of one hundred sixty three missionaries to the country.  He also translated the Bible into Burmese and his work is still followed by the large number of Christians in the country today.

Despite personal hardship and heartache, Judson never forgot what his mission was and what he felt was his duty to his Lord.  Today he is remembered with a college bearing his name, many Baptist churches throughout America doing the same and a following in Burma that would have never been possible without his hard work and sacrifice.

He died at the age of sixty two in 1850 but he is well remembered and he offers to each of us Christians, regardless of our denomination or church, a stellar example of what service to Christ really means.  May God bless his soul.

Let's use the example of Adoniram Judson, missionary extraordinaire, as a wonderful example of putting Christ first.  Are we Christians today willing to do the same?

The Day Before the Day of Horrors

On the evening of this day so many years ago, Jesus gathered together His disciples for His last supper with them.  Here is where He taught them about communion, a way in which the Church which would follow could remember Him in a solemn ceremony in respect for the blood He shed and His body which was so brutally battered until He breathed His last breath as a human mortal on this earth.

Why do I call this day the "Day of Horrors"?  It is hard to imagine anything that could be worse than to be a man knowing that shortly he would be arrested and tried for a non-crime and then to be convicted and given a capital punishment sentence.  But what truly makes it the most horrific punishment of all is the way in which his sentence was carried out.  Flogged mercilessly first, he was then tasked with carrying his own Cross, two heavy wooden beams, on his own shoulders through the streets while the crowd hurled insults and mocked him and he was being prodded by the soldiers escorting him.

Finally, he climbs the hill to Golgotha, is staked by his hands and feet to the Cross which is planted firmly in the ground while the life slowly creeps out of him.  For approximately nine hours he slowly and agonizingly died while he had all the fears, pains and doubts of any mortal man.  He even questioned his Father as to why he was being forsaken, but he labored on until finally dying.

This night we celebrate the birth of the Last Supper, our Holy Communion sacrament, as our living tribute to the Christ who died for us.  We don't understand all of what he was going through, but we do know that it was all for us.  And we even get a picture of just how corrupting Satan can be under any circumstances as we watch one of his principal followers, Judas, betray him while Jesus knows it will happen. Because of all of these things culminating in the Cross, we have been given the ultimate gift available possible from a loving God: the gift of everlasting life.

I hope each of you will have the opportunity to take communion this day.  If not, pray and read the story of the Last Supper in your Bible, for no gift could ever match this one and we must always remember it and use it as a way to keep us on the straight and true path to be with our Lord and Savior.

Remember Him, love Him and believe.  That is our charge this day.  That is the meaning of the Cross.

Have a wonderful day with Christ in your heart.

So How Should Republicans Respond To Reid?

I remember as a young boy in the second grade a class bully who always wanted to control the schoolyard.  Any time someone started to play on a sliding board, the monkey bars, the swings or whatever, he would come over with a menacing look and his fists balled up and say, "It's mine, you can't play here."

One day on recess I walked over to the empty monkey bars and started climbing.  Within moments, he approached and repeated his usual warning.

I don't know what decided it for me, maybe it was my morning Wheaties or something, but I retorted "No, I'm not leaving", and climbed down, walked over to him, and stood toe to toe with him.

The next thing I noticed was his fist when he hit me in the face, but my adrenaline was high and even though my nose started to bleed, I was not backing down.  I responded with a good smack to his face as well which, surprisingly, knocked him down.  And I noticed something else.  Not only did he bleed like me, he began to cry.

After that, young Tommy and I had no further problems.  We actually got along and, not only that, the terror on the schoolyard was over not just for me but for everyone.

I am reminded of this little story when I watch the groveling Republicans in the United States Senate.  Day after day, month after month, they talk about how they don't have a majority and can't do anything until the next election while Harry Reid and his Democratic "bullies" work their will on them.  With the exception of a few like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul, they just take it and give in to the tyrannical behavior time after time.  And just like the young bully story, as long as they do they will meet with no respect.  Reid and his "storm troopers" will just continue to push them around as long as they see no adverse consequence for their action.

Now that Mitch McConnell and his little band of neutered minority has even lost the filibuster, a procedural rule put in place by Thomas Jefferson to insure against the tyranny of the majority,
their minority status has dropped to laughingstock.  And the result will be the jamming through of judges and other appointments who are even more disastrous than the ones they have previously allowed to take office.

So are they really helpless now?  Is there not anything they can do?  Not exactly.  There are hundreds of procedural rules and gimmicks that they can use to slow things down, tie things up, and make it more difficult.  And while using them my not result in a win for the minority, it can make life difficult for the Democrats.  After the treatment they have faced, I think they owe it to America to fight Reid's abuses in any way they can.

I'll just give one example of what they should do.  Immediately stop granting unanimous consent to any and all requests in the lawmaking process.  Just say NO. Make the Democrats read every piece of legislation cover to cover on the floor and tie up whatever else they can with this motion.  It will at least show that they actually stand for something and they are not going to sit quietly by and let Reid work his will.

And the other thing that can be done is not up to the Senators but to We the People.  We can vote out every Democratic incumbent up for reelection next year.  But to make this effective, we also need to replace every RINO up for reelection with a true conservative. This can first be done by primarying them with good qualified men and women who stand for the Constitution and can eloquently make their case.  It's time for the Republican base to take control of the party, not leave it in the hands of a corrupt Washington Establishment.

Now
the "Big Guns" in Washington politics say it can't be done.  But Texas did it with Ted Cruz, Utah did it with Mike Lee and Kentucky did it with Rand Paul.  And all three had to fight off the establishment;  Rand Paul even had to fight his senior Senator McConnell.  If the people speak up and we run solid candidates who support constitutional government and can communicate it well, I say (using the words of a scoundrel) "Yes We Can."

It's time for action, America.  Let's return the Land of the Founders back to her principles and strike what could be the first of a series of fatal blows to progressivism once and for all.  God bless you and God bless America.

The Dictator of the Senate

11/22/2013

Picture
Yesterday, in a typical show of complete disdain for the rights of the minority, Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, completely overturned over two hundred years of Senate procedure and custom and invoked the "Nuclear Option".  Henceforth, voting in the Senate to confirm all presidential appointments excepting the Supreme Court will no longer require sixty Senators to close debate.  A simple majority of 51 will be all that's needed to confirm Obama's appointments.

The Republicans voiced their typical outrage, not very convincing with the exception of the committed conservatives, and a tradition since the Founders has been destroyed.  This means that Obama can railroad through appointments of extreme progressive ilk and the Republicans will be unable to slow them down.  Not only that, but the steps being proposed to stack appellate courts with less than well qualified jurists will be on a major upswing.

The Democrats argued that the Republicans "threatened" to do the same thing when they had the majority and used the same logic or lack thereof.   And there is truth to that but there is one huge difference.  They didn't follow through, they relented.  But now that the Dems have invoked
open warfare in what used to be the "Great Debating Body", all bets for more civility and fairplay are off.

King Barack, acting more and more like a dictator of the Chavez variety in the White House, now has his "little" Dictator in the Senate.  The only body with any hope for maintaining America as we know it is the House, and with John Boehner, a very weak and easily swayed Speaker, that future doesn't look very good.

America, it is very important that true conservatives be elected next year to turn the tide in the Senate.  They must be dedicated to the Constitution and freedom.  RINOs and Progressives will not do, for electing the same people again will only compound this horrible result and our free society can't stand any more of that.  Those of you in red states with Democratic Senators, particularly take note.  There is not a red state progressive Senator who supports the view of the majority of the state's people.  Examples abound such as Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Mark Begich of Alaska and Kay Hagan of North Carolina.  There are many others. Act accordingly and throw them out, but do so with a true Conservative opponent, not a RINO hiding under cover.

It's also time to replace all of the leadership of the Senate Republican minority with fighters, men and women who will stand up to the progressive onslaught, not make statements of outrage while going along for the ride.  No one is more representative of this than Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate Minority Leader, who must be replaced by a leader who represents the will of the people, not K-Street. There are several others in leadership of a similar mind like John Cornyn of Texas.

Get ready for the 2014 elections, voice your opinion and support Conservatives, true conservative candidates.  Study their records, see what they have and have not done, and vote for those who support American values.  Otherwise the "Land of the Free" will truly become the future "Home of the Slaves".

Think about it, pray about it, and act.  It's our responsibility and it's our right.  Have a wonderful day and God bless America and all that she stands for.  She is not the government, she is her people.  Always remember that.

Obamacare: Nothing But A Redistribution Scheme

10/31/2013

Picture
Famous quotes or approximates: "You can keep your doctor if you want to", or "If you like your insurance you can keep it", or "The average family will save up to $2500 per year".  What do each of these quotes have in common?  They are all false statements and they were all used on multiple occasions by Barack Obama as he campaigned hard for the misnamed Affordable Care Act.

Many people have known from the beginning that this program could not and would not deliver a healthcare product which would be affordable and viable.  They realized that it just didn't make sense and could not be economically viable.

Many others, however, wanted to believe all the myths and promises as delivered by the President and his minions over the last three years.  After all, he and his allies designed it to selectively put a few things that many wanted up front, with the bad news coming later.  With the full scale operation of the program beginning on January 1, 2014, the bad news is finally coming out in droves.  The Affordable Care Act is anything but affordable, and instead of providing healthcare to everyone, this incompetently and patently immoral program is causing millions to lose their current coverage to be replaced by a product which many still don't understand.

Right now, individual healthcare contract holders are being notified nationwide that their current policies are being canceled because they don't meet all of the criteria of Obamacare.  You know, they don't provide things like birth control coverage for single males or abortion coverage for devout Christians morally opposed to the early life taking procedure. The one size fits all doesn't work on most things and nowhere is it clearer than with Obamacare.  And at the same time, citizens can't even find out how much Obamacare will cost them because the system requires input of an application in order to get a quote which crashes the system routinely and which has never been properly tested for security.  Anyone putting their personal information into the system better get Lifelock.  You can't make this stuff up, people.  The AMTRAK of health programs is underway.

Can you imagine an online seller like Amazon telling internet users that they must provide all of their personal data before they can get a quote on a product? The company would be out of business in hours and the CEO and his key associates would be shown the door before they could even get their morning coffee.

And this wondrous automated product has already cost us nearly $700 million on an original budget of $93 million and it is still basically worthless.  Consumer Reports has even recommended that consumers not even try to log on for a month or so at the least.  That tells you everything you need to know.

But the real key to this program is outrageous and it is this:  the program cannot and will not work but, then again, the President and his associates never intended it to.  The plan was to interject a program to kill off private medicine, frustrate citizens trying to use it, and then come in full speed for single payer.  Obama has said this many times; he has just selectively delivered those words where the general public wouldn't hear them and his mainstream media lapdogs obediently remained silent.  But now that they are seeing the public outrage grow they are beginning to let out "bits and pieces" as they try to salvage their credibility with a now skeptical public.

Folks, the entire purpose of Obamacare was to redistribute wealth with its cost structure and gain total control over us.  Think about it, if this thing goes full speed ahead without any challenge, each of us will be at the mercy of the government for our healthcare.  And if you don't think they will use NSA information to determine winners and losers you are not thinking clearly.  And unless the Republicans in Congress start pushing to kill this lemon instead of tweaking it, I guess it will mean they are in "the tank" for Obamacare as well.

This and the dastardly immigration reform legislation will be the crowning blows to freedom in America.  The illegals will get full access to everything, including our jobs and our healthcare, and we with dwindling resources will be footing the bill. It's time to take our eyes off the football games and Hollywood social chatter and start looking at the future of our country and our freedom.  We can turn this around, but it will take all of us.  And it will require paying attention to our politicians and letting them know in no uncertain terms what we expect.  Either they deliver for freedom or they will be replaced.

If we do this, and we keep God in our hearts and by our sides, we will prevail: peacefully but with strength of numbers.  God bless you all.

Obama Finally Talks About Embassy Closures

AND HE DOES IT ON JAY LENO!!!  This is no joke.  The President of the United States, the leader of the Free World, uses a comedy program to talk about a serious international issue.

Everything this President does amazes me more than whatever he did earlier for its stupidity and lack of Presidential stature.  Can you imagine what the press would have said about "W" if he had done this?  They would have laughed at him and used it for endless jokes for months.

It's not what they do for Obama, however, as they swoon over him and carry his baggage for him. It must be just as Chris Matthews says, they feel a tingle running up their leg.  Shameless and disgusting, that's what this is.

At the same time, Obama expresses his outrage at Vladimir Putin by pouting like a little boy and refusing to conduct the meeting with him that was previously scheduled.  Mr. President, it's time to wake up and realize that the rest of the world watches what you do and your poor decision-making and actions have serious adverse consequences for America.  Perhaps you don't even care, especially if it gets in the way of your vacation schedule.

I suspect that Mr. Putin just sits back laughing, marveling at the the stupidity of the happenings in the United States of America.

Sadly, Congress isn't much better.  They spend more time on recesses and junkets than they do on proper business.  And when they are in session, they usually are busy passing unwise legislation that no one wants, except for the Washington political establishment.  Anything to keep themselves in power is all they seem to care about.

Americans, let's wake up, smell the coffee, and change the brand.  We are rapidly heading for a total disaster if we don't change our ways.  Speak up and demand that your representatives do the things that we, the people, find important.  For starters, let's kill Obamacare and the immigration fiasco.  We can pick up from there with Benghazi, Seal Team 6, the IRS, and EPA activities, just to name a few.

I could go on forever but I think you get the drift.  Let's focus on what America needs to be successful, not to further a Far Left political agenda.  Now is the time to do so.

God bless you all and let's fight the good fight.  Have a wonderful day with Jesus in your heart.

On this Sunday, Make Your Commitment to Stand Up for Christ

7/21/2013

Picture
As all Christians know, God sent His Son to earth to show us how we must live and ultimately to give the ultimate sacrifice for us through His horrific and slow death on the Cross.  This was very painful to our Father, knowing what was going to happen to His only Son and then watching it happen.

Why would He do this?  He did it for love. He did it so that our sins would be forgiven.  And He did it to show his grace, for only through His grace can we enter the Kingdom of God when our days on this earth are done.

And what do we do to thank Him?  Well, even though we Christians claim Him as our Father and His Son as our Savior, we often falter and cower in fear when the time comes to stand up for Him.  Remember the hymns "Stand up, Stand Up for Jesus" and "Onward Christian Soldiers" and take the time to refresh your memory of the lyrics to those traditional hymns and you'll know what to do.  We must act as true Christian soldiers and stand up for Him or not only will we ultimately be lost when our time is done here, the land that we love will be lost as well.

Think of the things that have happened very quickly while we have been quiet and timid.  Our country in many ways no longer recognizes God and His Son, we took God out of our schools and in the process also destroyed our moral code and discipline and quality learning, our soldiers and their chaplains are being openly persecuted by their leaders for recognizing and worshiping him, and even our President continually states that we are no longer a Christian nation and, by his actions, favors any religious activity other than Christianity.  These are just a few of the active examples.

Being a Christian nation never meant that those who believe otherwise would be persecuted or required to worship as we do.  But being a Christian nation means that we are free to practice our beliefs and honor our nation's religious foundation.  You can try to rewrite history, Mr. President, but you can't change the facts.

And look what the result has been for our society.  America is dying a slow economic death, behavior has become abysmal, our youth have no role models or standards they are expected to follow, and the State more and more tries to place itself as the answer to our problems instead of our God.  If you open your eyes and look at what is going on around you, it doesn't matter what your religious beliefs are, you can't deny what you see.  Could it be that God is just tired of seeing us turn our back on Him and has decided to respond in kind?  If so, we really can't blame him.

A true story will show the idiocy of what is going on around us.  There was an action which took place recently that visually displayed the arguments of those who want to force all of us to live in their ungodly way.   For years there has been a display of the Ten Commandments in the courtyard of the Bradford County courthouse.  A group of atheists from New Jersey found out about it and demanded that it be taken down.  A judge came up with a compromise.  The atheists could install their own display adjacent to the Ten Commandments, so a bench was constructed with some type of content recognizing atheism.  They held a ceremony honoring their atheism at the unveiling.

You can't make this stuff up, folks.  Atheism now has a memorial honoring it.  And the amazing thing is this:  if you believe in atheism, why do you have to honor it?  After all, isn't it nothing but a big black hole, for it honors nothing, sets no standards by which to live, and offers nothingness when you are dead and gone.

Christians, the time for passivity is over.  And I'm not talking about violence or revolution or anything of the sort, I'm talking about being willing to truly speak out the truth in all that you do and wherever you go and whoever you meet.  We must be like those brave Apostles so many years ago and be Christian soldiers in every thought, action and deed.  If not, our way of life and our future, both here and hereafter, will be over.

Dear Lord, Help us to be strong, help us to be true, and help us to always have the courage and conviction to stand for Thee,  Amen

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your path.  PROVERBS 3:5-6 (ESV)

Have a blessed Sunday and always walk on the side of the Lord.

Too Much Rain Is Still A Blessing

7/7/2013

Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.  JAMES 5:18 (ESV)

In the past week we've had entirely too much rain.  Each day brought downpours from 1-4 inches and as the ground became over-saturated and the grass grew much too thick, I began to get cabin fever and  worry about things.  The pasture was beginning to flood in places creating problems for the horses, the two acres of grass around the house was beginning to grow out of control, and the possibility of snakes infesting the yard became more likely.  Would I be able to take care of the routine chores that were now becoming seriously overdue?

I became ashamed of myself.   I needed to take a special moment to talk with God and thank Him instead of complaining.  I remembered years past when we had severe droughts, the grass died, the trees turned brown and we even worried about the well running dry.  Even worse, I remembered those days when fire was rampant in many nearby areas and the ever-present smoke in the air made us fearful of the potential danger to family and home.  At that point snakes and too much growth would have been a blessing.

Being naturally the worrying sort, I had to remind myself to spend my time on only about things over which I had control.  As for the others, I would have to take them in stride and deal with them as they came up.    It will dry out, the grass will be cut, albeit it slowly and when and if the snakes show up, I will just keep my eyes open.  I've dealt with them before. Weather, seasons and life can change fast.  It's just the way things are and facing reality calmly is what God wants us to do.

Thank you, Lord, for calming me and making me realize just how wonderful this world is always.  Be it raining or shining, it will go on and we can handle whatever comes our way.

Dear Lord,  Thank you for the rains that you bring to nurture the earth.  And thank you for the sunshine which uses the rain to create the beautiful flowers and plants that adorn our glorious countryside.  Help me to always keep things in proper perspective and to turn to Thee when I have doubts or worries, for Thou art the answer to all of our needs and wants, now and forever.  We ask in the name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, Amen

Brothers and Sisters, have a wonderful Sabbath Day and keep it Holy.

Now is the Time to Take Down Obamacare

7/6/2013

Picture
The President tried to pull a fast one just before the Fourth of July.  He unilaterally stated through his minions that the employer mandate of Obamacare would be deferred for a year  until 2015.  The statement said it was done to take into account the difficulty that business was having and to give them more time to get ready.

Let's see now; the bill became law about three years ago and they still need time to get ready.  Meanwhile, the individual mandate and the rest of this fiasco remains in place.

This action on his part probably isn't even legal since the President has no authority to dismiss existing law, yet this wouldn't be the first time that he has done so.  Remember the Defense of Marriage Act - he refused to honor it, even taking a position against it with the Supreme Court.

Don't be fooled by what's going on here, folks.  Without saying so, what the President is doing is delaying one of the most drastic parts of the law until after the 2014 elections, figuring that the Democrats might be able to take over the House and, with continued control of the Senate, he will be able to expand his unconstitutional powers even more and faster.

The Republicans have a golden opportunity here if they choose to exploit it.  I know the Tea Party types want to but I have little faith in the establishment types who are always more interested in their personal gain than they are in what's best for our country.

For what it's worth, here's my recommendation.  Between now and the election, put on a full court press to defund and end Obamacare.  This can be done by constant pressure, never bending, and turning the existing majority dislike of this law into a groundswell of action. That is the only thing that Washington understands. Flood the media with horror stories about this, challenge them openly to tell the truth, and never relent.  And keep your own full court press on Congress as well. In short, use the same tactics, although more politely, than what the Left continually hammers at us.

And then here is the kicker.  Demand that the House does nothing with immigration.  Put it on the back  burner and focus on eliminating Obamacare and replacing it with a doctor- patient centered approach run by the private sector.  Government should only be involved to the point of insuring that it is fair and feasible with input from all who are impacted, not just union, insurance companies and big pharma types.  Let real doctors and their patients determine what is best in an open and free market.  This is critically absent in Obamacare.

Americans in large numbers hate Obamacare and they don't favor this terrible immigration bill either.  For once, Republicans, do the right thing and you will be rewarded.  If you don't, you will become a weak minority party forever and the Democrats will get everything they want: the destruction of a free and vibrant America.

May God always steer us toward freedom and liberty. God bless America.

Battle of Gettysburg Remembrance

7/2/2013

Picture
On this date in 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg entered its second day of bloody action.  It was North versus South, fought by Americans against Americans, but with different allegiance for many reasons.   Most of the combatants did not want to fight, but they did what they thought they needed to do for what they considered their homeland.

From a beginning the day previous with a chance skirmish, the battle quickly escalated into a bloodletting with thousands committed to the action on both sides.  This was tragic on both sides as some of America's finest at the time, many actually mere boys, died on a battlefield, often a slow death in oppressive heat and great pain since medical support was limited and overwhelmed.

God help us to never have another war like this, although today many are fearful of an oppressive government which seems to put no boundaries on their actions. Perhaps our memories of the past will bring our leaders to reevaluate their actions, and may cool heads always prevail, but we must always stand with God and follow Him. That is what He expects and to do so will result in the ultimate gift, everlasting life. Certainly a prayer will help us as we labor on:

Dear Heavenly Father,  Please shine your guiding light on us and keep us faithful and true to Thee and Thy law.  Help us to always remember the ramifications of that great battle and that war in our history and to apply lessons learned to our current life.
And help our leaders to support those things that are just and true, not based on personal pride, selfishness, and gain.  Open their eyes to the beauty of what our Founders created and return this great land to freedom and individual liberty.

Help us to always stand against tyranny and with Thee, protecting our right to determine our own destiny and enjoy the fruits of our labor, providing charity to those in real need voluntarily and without any desire for praise .  Help us to do these things always remembering that Thou art the cause for any success we might find.

Bless us, keep us safe and always glorifying Thee with the goal to live for Eternity in Thy House when our days on earth are done.  We ask in the name of Thy Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

God bless America and may she return to her roots.
