June 6, 1944: The Longest Day

It was a misty dark morning with rolling seas as they climbed aboard the landing craft to be taken ashore.  They were pensive and nervous, thinking about what would be awaiting them.  Once aboard, they crouched against the cold metal and waited.  The water was choppy and the craft rolled from side to side and up and down, creaking and banging as the large waves slammed into the metal hull.

As waves occasionally sent heavy splashes of water down upon them, the damp air smelled of salt brine mixed with fuel.  It is likely that most of them said a prayer for salvation, even those who heretofore had never shown any signs of religious belief.  They continuously checked themselves over, making sure that they had all of their gear as they revisited their battle orders which had been drilled into their head for weeks.

As they drew closer to shore they could hear the guns, the large
artillery which the Germans were using to try and stop them.  Occasionally there was a nearby explosion indicating a direct hit.  Their sergeants and platoon leaders yelled readiness instructions over the chaos, repeating the steps for readiness as they neared their drop off point.  Now machine gun fire could be heard and they knew they were nearing the dreaded point of taking on direct fire.

With adrenalin pumping and their minds racing, they were told to stand ready as the landing craft raced the final yards before the ramp started to open.  As it opened, many of them in the first waves never even had a chance to exit the craft before being mowed down by enemy fire.  Others found upon entering the water that they were over their head in depth and sank to the bottom with all of the dead weight never to resurface.  Even more, those who had eaten a full breakfast, became disoriented because of their sea sickness and could not find their way, becoming instant targets in their confusion.

But they kept coming, wave after wave kept coming, and now they were starting to reach the beach in larger numbers and gradually penetrate the beachhead to the base of the bluffs despite all of the blood, carnage and chaos around them.  Brave medics ran from cluster to cluster doing what they could to help the wounded and combat engineers found weak points and used explosive charges to continue past obstacles and rangers and others began to climb the cliffs to the top.

Once the first breaks were made, hundreds of men continued to breach the bluff crests and they finally poured through and into inland coastal France.  It took hours with thousands of dead and wounded but with the help of airborne infantry who had been dropped behind enemy lines they finally silenced the big guns, allowing the breaches to open to a human wave.

This was D-Day, June 6, 1944, truly in military annals the Longest Day.  It was the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany, but it would be many long months before that would become reality.  But America and her allies had finally breached the fortress that was Nazi Europe and as the industrial might of America and the thousands of patriotic men continued the push,  General Dwight Eisenhower's great gamble finally succeeded and with it came the rebirth of a free Europe.  The scourge of Adolph Hitler finally ended.

God bless all of those brave souls, living and dead, who carried out their mission effectively and with honor despite the heavy price that they paid.  May we always remember their valor and fortitude and may they serve as a shining example of what it means to be free.  Never forget and never let anyone take away our fervor and love for a free America.

In Memoriam: Jeremiah Denton (1924-2014), A True Hero (RIP)

Former Senator and Retired Rear Admiral Jeremiah Denton passed away on March 28th at the age of 89.  Admiral Denton was a gentleman, a Christian, a great Patriot and an American hero who always put his country first.  His firm but kind words will be missed by a country sadly losing her destiny.

Admiral Denton, a Navy pilot at the time,  was shot down in 1965 over North Vietnam and spent nearly eight years in the brutal "Hanoi Hilton".  Always devout and a courageous leader, he communicated with his men by tapping Morse Code messages to his fellow prisoners.  As the senior American and despite his hardships from torture and illness, he did what he could to keep their morale as positive as possible.  He stated later that he turned things over to the Lord who gave him the strength to endure.

When put before the cameras by his captors to supposedly apologize for his nation's sins under extreme duress, he sent a message of Morse Code by eye blinks which spelled out the word "Torture", letting the world know the truth.  He was released and returned home in 1973.

Seven years later after retirement from Naval Service, Admiral Denton ran successfully for the Senate from his home state of Alabama and served one term in office.  He was an outspoken critic of those attempting to weaken our military and he said to his dying day that victory in Vietnam was taken away by the actions of liberal politicians.  He was a plain spoken and honest man always.

America owes a great debt of gratitude to this fine man and I hope each of us will take a moment to thank God for giving us such a fine Christian and for the sacrifices he made for his country.  And as the Navy likes to say, I wish him "fair winds and following seas" on his journey home.  May he finally receive the peace that he so richly deserves and God bless his soul.

So How Should Republicans Respond To Reid?

I remember as a young boy in the second grade a class bully who always wanted to control the schoolyard.  Any time someone started to play on a sliding board, the monkey bars, the swings or whatever, he would come over with a menacing look and his fists balled up and say, "It's mine, you can't play here."

One day on recess I walked over to the empty monkey bars and started climbing.  Within moments, he approached and repeated his usual warning.

I don't know what decided it for me, maybe it was my morning Wheaties or something, but I retorted "No, I'm not leaving", and climbed down, walked over to him, and stood toe to toe with him.

The next thing I noticed was his fist when he hit me in the face, but my adrenaline was high and even though my nose started to bleed, I was not backing down.  I responded with a good smack to his face as well which, surprisingly, knocked him down.  And I noticed something else.  Not only did he bleed like me, he began to cry.

After that, young Tommy and I had no further problems.  We actually got along and, not only that, the terror on the schoolyard was over not just for me but for everyone.

I am reminded of this little story when I watch the groveling Republicans in the United States Senate.  Day after day, month after month, they talk about how they don't have a majority and can't do anything until the next election while Harry Reid and his Democratic "bullies" work their will on them.  With the exception of a few like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul, they just take it and give in to the tyrannical behavior time after time.  And just like the young bully story, as long as they do they will meet with no respect.  Reid and his "storm troopers" will just continue to push them around as long as they see no adverse consequence for their action.

Now that Mitch McConnell and his little band of neutered minority has even lost the filibuster, a procedural rule put in place by Thomas Jefferson to insure against the tyranny of the majority,
their minority status has dropped to laughingstock.  And the result will be the jamming through of judges and other appointments who are even more disastrous than the ones they have previously allowed to take office.

So are they really helpless now?  Is there not anything they can do?  Not exactly.  There are hundreds of procedural rules and gimmicks that they can use to slow things down, tie things up, and make it more difficult.  And while using them my not result in a win for the minority, it can make life difficult for the Democrats.  After the treatment they have faced, I think they owe it to America to fight Reid's abuses in any way they can.

I'll just give one example of what they should do.  Immediately stop granting unanimous consent to any and all requests in the lawmaking process.  Just say NO. Make the Democrats read every piece of legislation cover to cover on the floor and tie up whatever else they can with this motion.  It will at least show that they actually stand for something and they are not going to sit quietly by and let Reid work his will.

And the other thing that can be done is not up to the Senators but to We the People.  We can vote out every Democratic incumbent up for reelection next year.  But to make this effective, we also need to replace every RINO up for reelection with a true conservative. This can first be done by primarying them with good qualified men and women who stand for the Constitution and can eloquently make their case.  It's time for the Republican base to take control of the party, not leave it in the hands of a corrupt Washington Establishment.

Now
the "Big Guns" in Washington politics say it can't be done.  But Texas did it with Ted Cruz, Utah did it with Mike Lee and Kentucky did it with Rand Paul.  And all three had to fight off the establishment;  Rand Paul even had to fight his senior Senator McConnell.  If the people speak up and we run solid candidates who support constitutional government and can communicate it well, I say (using the words of a scoundrel) "Yes We Can."

It's time for action, America.  Let's return the Land of the Founders back to her principles and strike what could be the first of a series of fatal blows to progressivism once and for all.  God bless you and God bless America.

The Dictator of the Senate

Picture
Yesterday, in a typical show of complete disdain for the rights of the minority, Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, completely overturned over two hundred years of Senate procedure and custom and invoked the "Nuclear Option".  Henceforth, voting in the Senate to confirm all presidential appointments excepting the Supreme Court will no longer require sixty Senators to close debate.  A simple majority of 51 will be all that's needed to confirm Obama's appointments.

The Republicans voiced their typical outrage, not very convincing with the exception of the committed conservatives, and a tradition since the Founders has been destroyed.  This means that Obama can railroad through appointments of extreme progressive ilk and the Republicans will be unable to slow them down.  Not only that, but the steps being proposed to stack appellate courts with less than well qualified jurists will be on a major upswing.

The Democrats argued that the Republicans "threatened" to do the same thing when they had the majority and used the same logic or lack thereof.   And there is truth to that but there is one huge difference.  They didn't follow through, they relented.  But now that the Dems have invoked
open warfare in what used to be the "Great Debating Body", all bets for more civility and fairplay are off.

King Barack, acting more and more like a dictator of the Chavez variety in the White House, now has his "little" Dictator in the Senate.  The only body with any hope for maintaining America as we know it is the House, and with John Boehner, a very weak and easily swayed Speaker, that future doesn't look very good.

America, it is very important that true conservatives be elected next year to turn the tide in the Senate.  They must be dedicated to the Constitution and freedom.  RINOs and Progressives will not do, for electing the same people again will only compound this horrible result and our free society can't stand any more of that.  Those of you in red states with Democratic Senators, particularly take note.  There is not a red state progressive Senator who supports the view of the majority of the state's people.  Examples abound such as Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Mark Begich of Alaska and Kay Hagan of North Carolina.  There are many others. Act accordingly and throw them out, but do so with a true Conservative opponent, not a RINO hiding under cover.

It's also time to replace all of the leadership of the Senate Republican minority with fighters, men and women who will stand up to the progressive onslaught, not make statements of outrage while going along for the ride.  No one is more representative of this than Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate Minority Leader, who must be replaced by a leader who represents the will of the people, not K-Street. There are several others in leadership of a similar mind like John Cornyn of Texas.

Get ready for the 2014 elections, voice your opinion and support Conservatives, true conservative candidates.  Study their records, see what they have and have not done, and vote for those who support American values.  Otherwise the "Land of the Free" will truly become the future "Home of the Slaves".

Think about it, pray about it, and act.  It's our responsibility and it's our right.  Have a wonderful day and God bless America and all that she stands for.  She is not the government, she is her people.  Always remember that.

It's Sunday: Time to Reconnect with God

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.  ROMANS 16:17.

I'll bet that the first thing that many of you wanted to do, my Christian brothers and sisters, when you saw the title was to ask:  What do you mean, time to reconnect with God?  I stay connected with God.

But bear with me, I am not talking about each individual.  I know that many of us are filled with the Spirit and try with all our heart to do what is right.  Despite this individual effort, however, our general American society, created under a compact with God is today rapidly losing His influence.  And this change has many of us troubled, even downhearted and in danger of falling into despair.  Our charge, Christians, is for us to never falter but instead to maintain our steadfast love of Him and tell the story of Jesus to those who don't know Him.  We must be modern day Disciples of our Lord and the best way to do this is through our example.

How many of you know someone who never enters the door of a church?  How many times do you see things happening that you know are wrong but yet you watch silently and say nothing?  What about when your children bring home something from school that you think is objectionable in its teachings but you don't follow up?  Or even, most common of all, see something objectionable on TV and let it pass?

Each of these things, commonplace today, offer teaching moments.  They offer an opportunity for us to get involved in our own little way to change things.  Ask that friend if he or she would like to go to church.  Take the objectionable material and schedule an appointment with the teacher to ask about it and challenge it.  Turn off the TV and demand changes to programming. Get involved, speak up, politely with a smile on your face, yet firmly.

Don't let the little things that have negative impacts on our belief system and the development of our families and our communities go unchallenged.  If we do these things with a loving countenance, yet strong in our beliefs, we might be surprised at how much good we can accomplish.  If it does nothing else, it will require others to face it and think about it.  Thinking about it is the first step to facing the truth in both ourselves and in others.

What got me thinking about this was the ad I saw on the internet, a government sponsored ad, urging young people to sign up for the Obamacare coverage.  It depicted an attractive young lady advocating enrollment so that she would have free birth control pills, thereby affording her the "freedom" to coax a young man she desired into her bed.  This ad is being perpetrated by the very same government that wants to tell us what to eat and how to live for good health.  It is bad health policy, it has serious negative health potential  and it is totally immoral.  It  just shows the general depravity that so many have learned to accept as normal with the assistance of a government trying to create a new normal, a normal where there are no absolutes in life.

Having said that, I think it becomes abundantly clear what we need to do going forward here in America.  We Christians must lead the reconnection of our society with God.  We must follow the verse of Romans cited at the beginning of this commentary.  We must refuse to support doctrine being pushed which violates our sense of how God wants us to live.  We must not bend on this, for the consequences of going down the wrong path lead to disaster for all of us.  But turning to God and making our actions in accord with his Law and teaching and helping others to do the same is the only way for America to reconnect with He who made her great.  It is the only way to return America to her former self.

God bless you all and have a wonderful Sabbath Day.

Happy Veterans Day, America

Picture
At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in the Year of Our Lord 1918, the guns fell silent in France and the men of the Allied Expeditionary Forces including a huge contingent of Americans finally were able to lay down their arms with the onset of a truce.  Although the terms of Germany's surrender would be determined later, the active fighting was done and with it came the end of World War I.

The following year President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11th as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of what was thought to have been the War to End All Wars.  Little did  they know in just over twenty years the world would be in turmoil again and Americans would once again go off to war to fight evil forces of Hitler's Germany in Europe and his ally, the Empire of Japan, in the Pacific.  That America was successful even though pulled into two far distant theaters at the same time is a tribute to the men and women who gallantly served the Red, White and Blue.  Many suffered the ultimate sacrifice, many others were seriously wounded and maimed, but all stood resolute for a cause which was just and could not be avoided.

As a result of this second horrific war, Congress acted to change the designation of the day and in 1954 the President of the United States signed into law the change of designation of November 11th from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.  Hereafter the day would be in honor of all American men and women who served, and continue to serve, their grateful nation in uniform.  I think it highly appropriate that the signatory President was Dwight D. Eisenhower, the man who had served as the Supreme Commander of Allied Forces Europe during World War II.

I hope all Americans will spend at least part of the day today remembering and saying prayers for  the men and women who have served them and, in particular, those who have suffered the ultimate sacrifice or were wounded in combat.  These Americans and their brothers and sisters at arms all represent the finest traditions of America and deserve to be recognized for what they willingly have done.

Thanks, Veterans, for a job well done.  And America, make a point of thanking every veteran you see for their service.  They will smile back at you with great pride.  Happy Veterans Day.
May America always stay free and remain the bastion of strength against tyranny wherever it might rear its ugly head.  God bless America, our home, sweet home.

Our Christian Military Chaplains Are Under Assault

Over the last few months I have written a lot of blog entries about the degradation of personal freedoms that Americans are facing today.  It is a sad fact that the Obama administration has taken upon itself a policy of deciding what "IT" thinks is appropriate or not in the Constitution and, in the case of those things it finds inappropriate, to do everything in its power to negate them.  The rule of law has definitely been thrown out the window.

Nowhere is the problem more noticeable than in the constitutionally-protected right to freedom of religion.  Our heroic military personnel are perhaps the most damaged in this area for the administration is taking an extremely hostile stand against Christianity and the expression of faith by military personnel.

Are you aware that Christian military chaplains have been told not to invoke the name of Jesus Christ in their prayers?  Did you also know that the administration also wants to designate chaplains for atheism?  I find both of these things detestable, but what should we expect from a political group that seems to have no place for God.  The President of the United States, a man who claims to be a Christian, does everything to treat Christianity harshly while cointinually approving of groups that don't represent love in their heart.  Remember, friends, Christianity is the one true religion based upon love.  That's the reason Jesus died for us.  He loved us and wanted to give us eternal life.

Some in Congress have spoken up, but not nearly enough and I think it is now the responsibility of American Christians everywhere to put their two cents forward.  How about writing or calling every Congressman in the United States and voicing your outrage?  Tell them to take this fight, along with so many others, directly to the President.  Speak up, speak out and let everyone you know what you think of this transgression, for now is the time to stand firm and not go weak.

Jesus wants us to be His modern day Apostles.  Nothing we could do could offer a better example of doing this.  Our young Christian men and women in uniform deserve the opportunity to express their religion, practice their religion and love their God.  Believe me, there is no atheist in a foxhole.

In closing let me cite a short personal story about this subject which I think makes it very clear.  Years ago when I was a member of the Session of a Presbyterian Church in Maryland, our Presbytery was considering elimination of support for ROTC, the major training arm in colleges for development of military officers.  Many in the Presbytery wanted to eliminate the program, saying that it wasn't appropriate for "peaceful" Christians to support the art of war.

During the discussion, I was asked, as a former military officer, what I thought of the proposal.  I looked at my colleagues and just asked them one question.  Who would you prefer to be a commissioned officer leading troops into battle, a God-fearing Christian or a person without strong principles and convictions?  The motion was quickly tabled.

Christian friends, this is an important fight.  I think in many ways it is a test by the Left to see what they can "get away with".  I think it is also a test of us by God to see if we will truly support Him when the heat is on.   Let's not let them "get away with" eliminating religious freedom for our military personnel.

God bless you, God bless all of our men and women in uniform, and God bless America.

George Zimmerman Stays in the News

Picture
A small story broke in the last day or two about George Zimmerman.  The man who was acquitted of any criminal charges in the death of Trayvon Martin apparently played the role of Good Samaritan last Thursday in his hometown of Sanford, Florida.  It seems that he came upon an overturned car and assisted the removal of the driver and four passengers along with the help of one other passerby.

So George Zimmerman, the man being maligned by many around the country without even understanding the basis for the verdict did a good deed for someone he never met.  Sure sounds like he must really be an evil guy, right?

I think this case is instructive of a general trend in America that is not very good.  It shows a lack of knowledge, a lack of understanding, and a lack of common sense and morality.  We who live in a land where a defendant is supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty"  find ourselves instead with an opposite result.  Apparently since Zimmerman was found not guilty, he and his parents have had to go into hiding because of all of the death threats.  Even a lady in the area who has a phone number only one digit off from Zimmerman's is getting dozens and dozens of death threats.  And the President of the United States, a man wo is supposed to represent all of the people and be dispassionate in all of his public utterings has clearly chosen sides with Sharpton and the likes.  Meanwhile his hometown of Chicago is a war zone with children being murdered daily and it completely escapes his attention. This is outrageous behavior and instead of being criticized for it we find the lamestream media enthusiastically endorsing it.

America, it's time to move on.  There is no story here except for a tragedy that was unfortunate and did not violate the law.  And Florida, despite the words of McCain and others who are always looking for a crisis, stand your ground on the "Stand Your Ground" law.  It works, it reduces crime, and it has been proven to be very effective for minorities protecting themselves.  Bet you won't find that statement in the news anywhere?

I pray that Trayvon Martin's family and George Zimmerman's family are both healed over time.  It is time for cooler heads to prevail and stop this madness.  And it's also time for us to focus on the big picture: the travesties being perpetuated on us by a government that is truly out of control and knows no boundaries.  It's time, America, for us to rein her in and make sure that freedom and God lead our thoughts, words and actions.

God bless America and may she return to her roots.

Have America's Leaders Failed Us?

Picture
Over the last week I have been watching the HBO mini-series The Pacific.  As a follow-up to the Band of Brothers tracking paratroopers from D-Day through the surrender of Germany, The Pacific does the same for three Marines involved in the bloody island fights en route to Tokyo.

Sgt. John Basilone lost his life at Iwo Jima after earlier winning the Congressional Medal of Honor for heroic action at Guadalcanal.  After the award he was sent stateside to be a "living PR machine" for the sale of war bond but became restless and wanted to return to action.  He left behind a new bride of only months.

PFC Robert Leckie from New Jersey served with distinction at Guadalcanal, New Britain (Cape Gloucester) and Peleliu, wounded multiple times and finally sent home for good after injuries at Peleliu.  He became a well respected A.P. writer and married a girl from his neighborhood who never gave him the time of day before she saw him in his dress blues after his return home in 1946.  He also penned a great book about his experiences, A Helmet for My Pillow.

PFC Eugene Sledge, a doctor's son from Mobile, Alabama, rapidly grew from a boy to a man through his experiences.  Serving at Peleliu and Okinawa, he was involved in horrific action as a mortarman.  The impact of war was tough for him to overcome after returning home but he persevered and went on to become a Professor of Biology at the University of Monteballo.  Sledge kept copious notes of his wartime service in a pocket diary and later wrote an autobiography,  The Ballad: The Boys at Peleliu and Okinawa.

Why do I mention these heroes and what do they mean today?  Well, they represent the last group of tough American service members who fought in a war that America truly won.  We've had many brave and great soldiers since who have fought  valiantly since then, many of whom have died or been seriously wounded.  But World War II was the last war where it was clear that America achieved her objective, achieved without apology  but with great personal sacrifice  and loss and sadness for what had to be done.

Since then we've had Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan with many other lesser fights and skirmishes and I can't really say that we've accomplished much for all our efforts.  Korea has been divided it seems like forever, we lost a war we could have won in Vietnam because of the influence of the press and weak-kneed politicians, and while the jury is technically still out on Iraq and Afghanistan it looks like things are failing there as well.  We can't even seem to properly feed our men and women who are still in harms way.

Meanwhile, for their service in these later causes, many of our veterans can't even get the medical and financial help they need and deserve from a government which has turned its back on them.  It's much busier pandering to those at home who have never sacrificed anything or it is trying to open our doors to illegals who are often treated much better than our veterans.  What a disgrace.

And what does the future hold?  Well, food stamps continue to rise in number, unemployment only looks better if you fudge the numbers which the government does very well, and the strength and fabric of our nation is being ripped apart.  Our military is being weakened and turned into a social experiment and the best experienced leaders, those who are patriots and want to do the right thing, are being cashiered out of the service in record numbers,  replaced by yes men who will do nearly anything for a promotion.

And as for our politicians, they are right in the middle of the cause, from the President right on down to a large number of our elected officials.  They see as their top priority their agenda and their personal accumulation of wealth, power and privilege, no matter what the voters want.  They think they know best when they have displayed that their reasoning is questionable at best and a disaster at worst.

So what happens when some distant power, think China maybe or even a huge terrorist force directed by Iran, decides America is ripe for the picking and decides to make a move?  Well, our military will no longer have the power to respond effectively, and its personnel will not consist of a fighting force made of up of men like those three brave Marines I discussed at the outset.  And God will sit back and watch for He sees that our leaders no longer respect Him.  No, our military will be in the midst of a social experiment with its members jockeying for position internally while the bombs are incoming.  It will make Pearl Harbor look like a Sunday school picnic.

Is this what we want, America?  We need to think about it and talk honestly.  Kill the political correctness, recognize when war is necessary and how important it is to finish the job if you start it, and get ready.  Face the truth.  Weakness never wins; in fact it guarantees failure.

May God have mercy on us and change our ways.
And may we always recognize Him is the answer to everything.

Pray for America

It's morning and the sun is coming up.  The birds still sing and the dogs still bark and America wakes up on the day after the Zimmerman trial ends with a "not guilty" verdict.  I hope and pray that cool heads will prevail and that there will be no destruction and violence as an aftermath.

While I believe that justice was served, I am almost surprised to see a normal morning after all of the hype, shouting, and pure hate that has been displayed lately.  And I hope and pray that both the Zimmerman and Martin families are given their privacy and left alone and that God's healing power will work its wonders on both.

America, I think right now what we need to do is pray.  A change of heart and soul is desperately needed in this land of ours or we are likely to destroy our society.  You can pray with me or on your own as you wish, but please take the time to pray and ask Almighty God for comfort and guidance in these perilous time.

Dear Lord:

We thank Thee for Thy bountiful blessings and Thy love, but we are troubled today.  Our country is deeply divided and filled with much anger and hate.  Guide us and direct us down the right path and make us aware that we can never reach Eternity and that better place without Thee.

Help us to remember love, not hate.  Help us to live our lives as Thou wouldst have us do, not as we think we want to do.  Help us to remember and return the greatness of America as a God-fearing land, not a land of greed, selfishness and strife.  Help us to keep family strong, not tear it apart.  Help us to love the sinner, even though we hate the sin.  Help us to appreciate the beauty of this world and all of its natural wildlife, not abuse and destroy it by devious plan and neglect.  Help us to find peace, Oh Lord, everlasting peace through Thee.  And finally, remind us to never forget what Thy Son, Jesus Christ, did for us on the Cross.

And Lord, make us always mindful of our responsibility for the proper development of our children.  May we teach them the proper Christian values of the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount, instilling in them faith, hope and charity through Thy love and grace.  These special little ones will one day inherit this earth from us and help them to make it a much better place than we left it
.

Guide our leaders, Oh Lord, to make decisions that will be acceptable to Thee and fully support the principles of freedom and individuality that we were founded on.  We know that many of them do not share our values and actually scorn us and our belief in Thee.  Infect their hearts with Thy love and lead them down the path of righteousness that we so desperately need.

Be with all those in trouble, sick, or traveling, and safely see them through their problems and journeys.  We ask in the name of our Savior, Thy Son Jesus Christ, Amen.

Refresh yourselves with God and rest.  Be ready to go forth this week determined to bring America back and in so doing change the world for the better.  God bless you all and God bless America.
